CARACAS (Reuters) - The hush over Venezuela’s parliament at the start of proceedings last week was broken by background noise that would last throughout the session - the clatter of construction equipment remodeling the park where the legislature had convened.
The Caracas park is among the few places opposition lawmakers can meet without being harassed by President Nicolas Maduro’s government, which not only banned them from congressional headquarters but pushed dozens of lawmakers into exile.
The opposition legislators’ terms expire in two weeks and a new congress will convene after Maduro allies swept a Dec. 6 parliament vote boycotted by the opposition on the grounds it was fraudulent.
Maduro dismisses the idea that the election was unfair, and has celebrated the vote as a turning point that will put the legislature under Socialist Party control despite U.S. sanctions on the OPEC nation’s oil industry aimed at driving him from power.
Opposition lawmakers are discussing how to maintain a stripped-down version of parliament after their terms end, a strategy that could put them at risk of arrest, while not providing any clear path to hastening Maduro’s departure.
But many insist the plan will help maintain international recognition of congress chief Juan Guaido - whom 50 nations see as Venezuela’s legitimate president - while ensuring the opposition does not disappear.

No doubt they used Dominion voting machines.
At what point does a people decide to actually fight and die for liberty? Too late for them. Is it too late for U.S.? Cause it is the only way to be sure.
I’m wondering about the sudden appearance, in the mainstream media (which is not at all sympathetic to our Constitution and voting integrity and fair elections and eligible voters and votes actually counted) of stories about Venezuela and its fraudulent elections.
now NewsMax is running a disclaimer stating they have no evidence of any connection between Dominion and Venezuela, or Dominion and Smartmatic, or Dominion and anybody-——
They’ve been threatened with lawsuits from Dominion and Smartmatic. So has Sidney Powell. Lin Wood made a statement for her saying “File your lawsuit”. This is a man who knows a thing or two about winning defamation lawsuits.
These are truly brave people who don’t face “doxxing” or placement at the holiday kid table - they confront the fact they may be swooped up and executed at any time. Yet they carry on for love of their country and hope for their families’ future. May God bless their efforts because America’s Democrat Party surely won’t.
Our future soon enough and it’s going to take far less time for us to reach this point that it took them.
agreed; Sabastian Gorka was filing in for Kelly? when they ran the disclaimer, and lambasting the election fraud....lol.
Conditioning
“I represent Sidney Powell. I have carefully reviewed your letter of December 15, 2020. I am not impressed. Ms. Powell retracts nothing.
File your lawsuit.”
= = = =
Oh man! Lin Wood has gonads the size of Manhattan.
Love this guy!
Dominion and Smartmatic are running lawsuits against anyone that makes negative statements about them. It’s a common and expected legal move intended to intimidate. My guess is Newsmax legal team is making the disclaimer mandatory to keep out of lawsuits.
Powell is among those being sued, and she says bring it on. During the discovery process all should be revealed in a fair court and fair trial. All evidence must come to light. Dominion and Smartmatic will lose.

...said by our current crop of politicians, NEVER
Well, I certainly hope the 33 million ($33,000,000) dollars for the Venezuelan Opposition that was in the Covid Relief Bill hurries and gets to Juan Guaido, and his buddies. /S
