Ok. Newsmax today says that if, at the reading of the Electors, for each one, a Senator AND a House Member objects, then, AT THAT TIME the houses are divided and each one conducts debate amongst themselves for two hours. If, and only if, this debate goes on until Jan 18th, then the election GOES TO THE HOUSE where each State GETS ONE VOTE. So my question is do we have enough support to sustain this effort? Are there enough senators and house members to carry on a 12 day debate? Does anyone think this can be done?
I doubt it.
NO!! Democrats are LAW-LESS because Republicans are BALL-LESS!
It only needs to be for the disputed states.
I don’t see the political will as we teeter on the precipice of Chinese hegemony over our country. Our political leaders are afraid of Leftist violence against themselves and their families.
There will be some stand up folks in the house, but to get stand up Senators be doubtful.
No, debate on objections is limited to 2 hours.
No. Probably fewer than 30 total, nearly all of that in the House. The Senate is as anti-American as it gets.
They all need to be removed from office. Their staff too. Clean out the city. Flush it.
Each objection will cause a ripple effect and an Awakening in the area of public opinion. Public Opinion = Pressure on reps to do the right thing....
Time to bring the rain! WWG1WGA!
That isn’t how this works
Sorry
All Pence does is count, that is it
From what I understand, there have to be enough states in dispute that Biden's total drops below 270 before anything like that happens. Just one state is not enough.
Am I right in believing this?
What happens after the 2 hours?
I have heard each full chamber votes and I have heard just one vote per state in the house.. Which is it?
Thank you.
Are you saying the 2nd Amendment is not enough to protect the fearful?
It doesn’t appear so.
We’re talking about a vote to reject electors, which is a regular vote (i.e., to reject electors, both a majority of the Senate and a majority of the House must vote in favor of rejection). The chance of that happening is basically zero. The two hour debate rule applies in this area.
If no candidate has a majority of electoral votes after Congress meets, then the House chooses the president. That’s the vote that has the one vote per state.
If the Senate sustains the objection to the electors and the House doesn’t they aren’t counted. If Biden no longer receives more that 270 the Congress has a contingent election where each state gets one vote in the House. Republicans have a 28-22 advantage.
A more likely scenario is that GA, AZ, and PA have state joint sessions and decertify the state electors or award them to Trump outright. If Trump get over 270 then there will be plenty of Democrats who will object and we would end up with a contingent election in this case as well.
If this potential for a long debate is correct, and I don't know that it is, then the January 8th USSC date for the Republican Party v Boockvar becomes more interesting.

Count what? Previous SCOTUS decisions have ruled that Pence cannot count fraudulent EC votes.
The idea of House Representatives or Senators raising objections is a moot point. By law, Pence cannot allow illegal EC votes. Out they go.
And based on what’s left? Trump wins.
Fear of leftist violence is a huge cop out!
There has been NOTHING DONE TO STOP THEM THUS FAR.
If Trump has another 4 years, I can see the leftist violence being stopped in a matter of HOURS.
You are conflating things.
Objections are asserted state by state. Nobody will object to the electors submitted by Utah, for example - 2 hours of debate, then the objection is voted on by the entire body. All that “objection” stuff will be completed on Jan 6.
If that process does not result in a winner, like if there are three candidates or no majority because some states are tossed wholesale, only in that circumstance does the “each state gets one vote” thing trigger.
See 12th amendment.
