On this date in 1864, President Lincoln receives a telegram from General Sherman.

"I beg to present you as a Christmas gift the City of Savannah, with one hundred and fifty heavy guns and plenty of ammunition and about twenty-five thousand bales of cotton."

Sherman had made good his promise to "make Georgia howl". The march to the sea is over.

I read Shermans autobiography a few years ago, I was surprised he called the Confederates “Democrats” such as “We reached the top of the hill and found the democrats ready for mischief” I guess it makes sense as that’s what the Confeds were, but I thought to myself, “Aha, so Democrats were giving the USA trouble back then as well” 150 years later and they are still trying to destroy the USA.

Au contraire mon fraire.

With the crap out of Georgia today, we need another Sherman.

This is not their first attempt at a coup d’état.

No — not “a bullet.” Lot’s of them. Notice he did not mention the families and the homes and crops that he burned to the ground on his march to Savannah who had nothing to do with slaves or making war.

Real nice guy, that Sherman. Lincoln was not any better!

Sounds like something we would hear from governors Cuomo or Whitmer.

The real war criminal was Jefferson Davis, of course, who started war at Fort Sumter and then refused to stop fighting for any terms better than Unconditional Surrender.

Typical Democrat, Davis’s only known regret was that he didn’t let the Union start the war.

War is hell and comes with a lot of collateral damage. Our ability to wage war with more precision today shouldn’t inform us to condemn warriors in the past.

We wouldn’t A-bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki today. But at the time it saved a lot of American lives. Bring the enemy to their knees by whatever means necessary is a method we’ve had the luxury to somewhat disregard in recent years.

Democrats really haven’t changed much. Back then they supported an immoral system in slavery and today they support an immoral system in abortion. You can actually update quotes from Lincoln and Davis and they still apply today.

“If slavery is not wrong then nothing is wrong.”
Abraham Lincoln

“African slavery, as it exists in the United States, is a moral, a social, and a political blessing.”
Jefferson Davis

“If abortion is not wrong then nothing is wrong.”
Abraham Lincoln

“Abortion, as it exists in the United States, is a moral, a social, and a political blessing.”
Jefferson Davis

The only thing I can say about Davis and the rest of the slavocracy is that slavery was slightly less evil than abortion.

“War is the solution our enemies have chosen, and I say lets give them all the want.” Major General William T. Sherman

Sherman’s intention was to make Confederates howl, but his instructions to the Union Army were that places which did not resist were to be unharmed.

If you were shooting at Sherman’s troops, you could expect to be burned down.

After the war, typical of Democrats, Confederates exaggerated their own destruction & suffering.

Wow. that was harsh.

You sound like a Democrat howling at the election, or a BLM protester howling at police.

Not nearly harsh enough. But the victor writes the propoganda.
