Today’s Cryptogram

Posted on 12/16/2020 2:01:53 AM PST by nikos1121

SALZN NVH NDXH OH PSR XSBH NVH HRQI XHHN, ILXHALQE XLGHI NVH HRQI.---VHMAHMN VLLGHM

TOPICS: Books/Literature; Chit/Chat; Hobbies; Music/Entertainment
KEYWORDS: todayscryptogram
You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

From The Arkansas Gazette. This is a good one to do “the old fashioned way” BY PAPER. Clue for today’s puzzle. Simply scroll your cursor over the text while left clicking your mouse, and the letters should appear.

S=A

Rescheduling my schedule for the snowstorm visit tonight. “They’re” predicting 20+” in my area. Will be shoveling during the night. I’m expecting it to be light in weight since it’ll be in the teens temp-wise. My dog is going to have so much fun!

About 1 minute, even without your clue. Most common letter.

2nd word.

9th word.

3rd word.

4th word.

6th word.

5th word.

8th word.

10th word.

Obvious.

Common letter is very, then the author is not far, and the rest easily follows…

Fairly easy, the author was also ‘ahead of their time’ as OUR present 2 week ‘flatten the curve’ inre ‘BeerFlu’ has reached Day 275 and rising with NO END in sight...

Those of you using HAL, should try doing this on paper, and those doing it on paper may try HAL.

I do these on paper every chance I get, but sometimes I can’t.

Not posting my time. I ran across this inadvertently looking for the prior posting of yesterday’s puzzle, just yesterday. Well under two minutes, but it don’t count. And remember, if you can’t make both HRQI XHHN, make one potatoes.
