She, like anyone who has earned a doctorate or PhD, deserves to be referred to using that honorific if that is their desire. It is simple respect and doesn’t change with one’s politics. I listen to Tucker the meaning Biden earlier for this and thought it was very inappropriate.

My doctorate is in musicology. I expect my students to call me Dr. I don’t expect my neighbors, fellow congregants, or anyone else to.

Obtaining an academic doctorate is no picnic, but outside of academia it doesn’t mean you’re smarter than the average bear.

Why would any PHD want to be called Dr outside the classroom other than to enhance his stature among equals.I would find it downright embarrassing, but that may be just me. Sorry, Joe, referring to your wife as Dr Biden rather than Jill or my wife, which is how she is identified by the public, on the campaign trail is a bit crass and striving.

The term “Dr.” has a meaning for most people. They think it’s an M.D. So the Bidens pushing that usage is deceptive.

I have a Juris Doctor. Don’t expect or want to be called “Dr.”

And yet in NYT's obituary for the esteemed public intellectual ad economist Walter Williams last week, the paper referred to him, a black man, as "Mr." throughout his obituary instead of "Dr.", an honorific he not only earned, but richly deserved.
