An Australian woman plunged about 260 feet to her death in front of her horrified husband and two sons after climbing over a safety barrier at a “perfect selfie” spot at a nature reserve, according to reports.
Rosy Loomba, 38, of Craigieburn, was hiking with her family at the picturesque Grampians National Park in Victoria on Saturday afternoon when she decided to pose for a photo at the Boroka lookout near the village of Halls Gap, news.com.au reported.
Police have issued many warnings about the dangers of the idyllic spot — famed on Instagram as the “perfect selfie” spot — but the woman nonetheless scaled a railing and plummeted to her death as her husband, Basant, and two young sons looked on helplessly.
It took emergency personnel more than six hours to retrieve her body from the rugged terrain using a winch, according to the news outlet.

Hey! You gonna see Goober later on? Tell him I said “duh huh”, he’ll know whatcha mean! :-)
I do feel a bit sorry for the folks who have to take on the challenging recovery of the body, though. About a dozen per year, reportedly.
been there. Done that. Not pleasant.
Only about 4 seconds.
Did her death get Insta’ed and how many thumbs downs (or ups) did it get ? Which begs the question - if her death didn’t get Insta’ed did she really die ?
Don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger, and don't mess around with .....
selfies in general and dangerous ones in particular.
Looks like i picked the wrong day to abstain from walloping the clown
Easy Karen
They do not look very ‘Australian’ to me.
That is not the woman who lost her life.
Too bad this spot isn’t in Darwin. She could have got her Darwin...in Darwin. Plus, she already had kids.
“If it has young...”
You bet. Steer clear from mama and papa. Especially a mama bear.
My husband was hunting; the kids and I were in the minivan. While he was in the woods, the children were playing near a tree stump. I decided to back up and get closer. The driver’s side door was open. I was looking at the rearview mirror.
I managed to crash the door into a tree, crumpling it a bit.
I got the kids in the car and my husband walks out of the woods.
“Honey...”
He tied it up the best he could but it was still about a foot open.
We left, driving on the dirt road. Suddenly a little black creature came out of the woods. We said, That looks like Claudius! (Our black lab).
It wasn’t. The next second, a much larger black creature exited the woods. Mama bear.
My husband floored it. The mother was only a couple of feet away from our open door.
LOL!!!
Not funny at all. Sad that people are so stupid, why we don't give democRats guns
Maybe she planned it???
To loosely quote Edith Bunker (All in the Family TV show),
“At least, she didn’t die of anything serious.”
It’s a natural human reaction to find dark humor in the tragedies of stupid people. These sorts of incidents also serve as a warning to other people to not be so stupid. Scorn and ridicule works.
Human psychology ain’t always so nice.
I’ve seen photos of that rock but never knew it was behind a barrier or that there was nothing beneath you it you fell. Sometimes, you can use forced-perspective tricks to make it look like you’re sitting on the edge of a building when you’re really sitting on a low wall. Or the ledge of a cliff when there’s flat earth three feet beneath you. I always thought that’s what was going on at that site.
got up to the top and its just a sheer drop off down the cliff....
