I like the “Forgotten Weapons” videos.
My man Godfrey.
Dersu Uzala (foreign film with subtitles).
Second Hand Lions
Flight World War II | Full Sci-Fi Adventure Movie
This is another good one:
“Comfort And Joy”: offbeat Christmas movie directed by William Forsyth (Gregory’s Girl, Local Hero). No one ever saw this. It was not released in the states and has never been on VHS playable here. It is on Youtube and you can connect it to your TV.
I’m 62 years old. And just this week I finally watched It’s a wonderful life with Jimmy Stewart. And I have to wonder, how is this a Christmas movie? How is this a feel good movie for the holidays?
Alcoholism? Domestic violence? Suicidal themes? It’s a good thing that the talented Jimmy Stewart was in this movie, otherwise I could not imagine it would have been as popular as it was.
These are all talks with some/little displays, but I found them peeling back the layers of B/S about a lot of stuff we believe to be "true" (like the bad Sherman tanks).
Veteran's Reaction to The Pacific
He's a fellow Marine (and fellow POG), and he has some of the most insightful commentary I've seen about the series.
In Our Hands (1950)
A four-part documentary on free-market capitalism and how it works and the threat to prosperity posed by socialism:
My Latvia (1955)
The story of the Soviet takeover of Latvia
Operation Abolition: The Story of Communism in Action (1960)
A House Committee on Un-American Activities hearing in San Francisco is disrupted by student protesters in one of the first protests of the sort that would sweep the country over the coming years. This film was widely shown and discussed by civic groups during the early sixties.

For the next two days, you can catch The Spanish Princess season 1 free of charge on Prime Video. It’s the third in the Philippe Gregory series that includes The White Queen and The White Princess. They seem to have taken major liberties with the facts in certain cases, yet it was entertaining and very good. I binge watched it in a day and a half. I think they modeled Margaret Beaufort after Nancy Pelosi.
I just watched The Lie on Prime Video last night. I highly recommend that one.
Here’s a 12 minute short one: “The Disappearance of Willie Bingham”
