I cover Free Republic pretty extensively, and I have not seen a You-Tube recommendation list in a while. If I missed one please accept my apologies.

Too Young the Hero
Calvin Graham enlisted in the Navy after Pearl Harbor when he was 12 but lied about his age.(Awarded a Purple Heart for saving lives of several sailors from his gun turret-Ed) He would have trouble with some of the officers he served with but his commanding officer thinks he's a good sailor. And when he finds out Graham lied about his age, he chose to keep quiet. But the man was transferred out, the one who succeeded him who doesn't like Graham had it in for him. And when Graham asked for leave so he can attend a funeral he denied it and gave him a pass which didn't give him enough to get back to his ship. When he came he was told to report somewhere which turns out to be a detention center for deserters. He would find himself experiencing all sorts of indignities and no one knows where he is.

“Comfort And Joy”: offbeat Christmas movie directed by William Forsyth (Gregory’s Girl, Local Hero). No one ever saw this. It was not released in the states and has never been on VHS playable here. It is on Youtube and you can connect it to your TV.

Second Hand Lions was one of the best movies EVER! I would add George C. Scott's classic PATTON and the Jimmy Stewart Christmas classic IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE to that list.
JFYI. Stewart and my late uncle served in the same Air Force unit during World War II and kept in touch until the 1980s.

Best speech ever in that small BBQ place where Huck fought those local boys.

I’m 62 years old. And just this week I finally watched It’s a wonderful life with Jimmy Stewart. And I have to wonder, how is this a Christmas movie? How is this a feel good movie for the holidays?
Alcoholism? Domestic violence? Suicidal themes? It’s a good thing that the talented Jimmy Stewart was in this movie, otherwise I could not imagine it would have been as popular as it was.

I watch that one again and again. One of the favorite feel good movies. The ending is so ... timely.

We just finished watching “Turn” (American Revolution) and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately it is not on You-Tube (Netflix) but since the topic is movies. I wanted to throw that one in.

For WWII history buffs, check out "Military History Visualized" YouTuber. He's an English-speaking German who has a lot of 15-20 minute vids discussing "Why France was defeated in 6 Weeks?", "How effective was the Tiger really?", "[Barbarossa] Would an Earlier Date made a Difference?". Also has some myth-busters like "Sherman: Why the bad Reputation?", "Should Hitler have waited?" and "Top 7 Red Army Myths - World War 2"
These are all talks with some/little displays, but I found them peeling back the layers of B/S about a lot of stuff we believe to be "true" (like the bad Sherman tanks).
Here's an index but there's more than what is shown

‘It’s a Wonderful Life ‘ is probably my Favorite Christmas movie. It Is a Christmas movie because it is set at Christmas time and a Christmas miracle.
George Bailey, and the viewers, get to see how much each life effects others lives. Even when we feel like a failure. We are doing God’s work he put into our paths. And it is indeed Glorious. 💖
