Men . . . go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.” So wrote Scottish journalist Charles Mackay in his 1841 book Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds, which for good reason to this day remains in print.
The Covid-19 hysteria, scientifically called mass psychogenic illness, that began in March has yet to peak. And if some have it their way it will continue indefinitely, merely going, in medical terminology, from epidemic to endemic. That is, it will never fully go away no matter what. We apparently finally have some medicines that work with countless more being tested, doctors have gotten better at applying treatments, vaccines are being administered in what is by far record time, and yet the media and public health community onslaught shows absolutely no sign of abating.
We have heard White House Covid-19 task force member Dr. Deborah Birx claim “This is not just the worst public health event. This is the worst event that this country will face, not just from a public health side.” Oy! This even as we’re now hearing the mainstream media, led by cult figure Dr. Anthony Fauci, say that the vaccinations now being rolled out don’t mean the masks can come off. Start with the second first.

Folks said as soon as Biden was elected the virus would disappear. Biden will use the fear of this virus to control us. The virus is real, and people will die.
The fear of the virus is even more real, and Biden will use it in every way that he can. (Well - Biden’s puppet masters will. I’m not sure Biden can even spell virus. Heck - he probably can’t even remember his own name.)
You know, you are right. They will dump all of us over 60 down the hospice chute. Maybe they will make euthanasia okay and appoint themselves as the people to determine your fate.
Logan’s Run at 60 instead of 30......................
I guess I live in a good area of the country, I do not see any hysteria. The only hysteria I see is on the internet, Other States, and media.
The hysteria appears to be in Democratic areas of the country where local/State government leadership abuse their power.
We’re in the same camp. I haven’t missed a day of work. My job has temporarily changed because customers don’t want to see us. However, since this began I’ve been to about 15 states, taught classes, met hundreds if not thousands of new people, eaten in restaurants, stayed in hotels, gathered in small and large crowds.
I’ve been to about twenty rallies and protests, up to 100,000 people. We went to the prayer march in DC. We went to the March for Trump rallies over the weekend.
We’ve been to church although we’re considering trying to find a different one that’s not afraid of their shadows.
I rarely wear a mask and never voluntarily.
On Friday night, we’re heading out on a 2800 mile road trip with people who don’t live in our household. (two of our adult kids)
Stop the fear.
With RATS running things, it won’t look as dramatic as Logan’s run. It will look like something ISIS would do.
Everyone of us know that some group will suffer in a big way with medicare for all, including illegals. Seniors, the people medicare was for, will be cut to nothing.
“I guess I am supposed to sit and go untreated.”
A few days ago my friend in SoCal had surgery for an intestinal blockage. That was six months after undergoing a Whipple Procedure, and two weeks after her last chemo treatment. This recent surgery hit her hard with constant pain and nausea — worse than the first surgery and chemo.
Yesterday the hospital cut her loose as they were turning that area into a Covid-only section. She was lying on the floor in the ER vomiting, and then lying in the parking lot vomiting and writhing in pain. Still, they wouldn’t let her in, in spite of her condition and her mother sobbing because nobody would help! At a hospital!! One ER nurse who was leaving saw them in the parking lot and wanted to help but she said she wasn’t allowed to.
Close. Political folks hate chaos, which is why the Dems and the media fomented chaos over the past 4 years as the disruption causes the weak to want "change". What we will see is a stop to the complaining about the current smooth process that the media is stoking fear about. Biden will be portrayed by the media as stepping into Trump's chaos and taking over the reins, straightening out the fake chaos, getting the vacs back on track, and in a few months when covid stops spreading the media will crown him the savior and then there will be NO CHAOS.
We are all immortal until the Good Lord decides to take us home.
I’m not going to lose sleep over it either.
To live is Christ. To die is gain.
I carry mine to the door of the store and take it off immediately upon leaving.
EVERYONE else is wearing the masks even when outdoors not near anyone else.
Baa baa........
One of my complaints is with people that think the attitude of the writer somehow suggests a lack of sympathy for those who have died of the virus, those who are so severely ill with now that they may day, and those who have lost someone from it.
For me, I do not think the author’s ideas are “against” sympathy toward anyone, nor are contrary to having that sympathy.
The author’s ideas stare the “pandemic” square in the face for what is and what it is not, and with the knowledge that for the majority of humans it will be the latter not the former, and THAT fact has to help guide us.
No one wants or chooses to be drive so dangerously as to have a car accident, but we go out in our cars every day, do our best at driving and still a million plus are killed each year in auto accidents, and tens of millions injured and disabled - but, most of us, drive our cars nearly every day. Our driving life does not stop just because we know what is possible when doing it. AND as we survive our daily driving experience, we do not give up or lose our sympathy for those who get killed doing it.
I usually put mine on after I've entered the store a few paces and then I'll wear it as a chin cover.
Vaccine or no, like the flu, it’s stayin’ thanks to joe and hunter’s pals. Social distruption, economic disruption, drug use, suicide, divorce, spousal abuse. All up since this and all the lockdown BS started. And yet, 300+ million Americans have NOT gotten or died from the bat flu. Yet. Our gov sissypants here in NV was on last night and extended the 25% limit until Jan 15. Unless things get worse and then we’ll be in trouble again. His biggest gripe? Well if the people in D.C. cared they would go ahead and fund state and local governments. I.e. Trump’s fault. So far, by his numbers, less than 3,000 Nevadans have allegedly died due to CV-19. Out of a state population of approx 3 million. Yup, bodies stacked and packed all over the place. Prayers up for those that have passed, have it or may get it and bigger prayers for those that are dealing with the total disruption of their lives. Us, we’re trying to do whatever we normally do. Vaccination? Nope.
When Do We Start Coming out of the Covid-19 Mass Hysteria?
When are we supposed to start?..............did I miss something?
“When are we supposed to start?..............did I miss something?”
You did not miss anything, other than, like me, the instructions to start with the hysteria.
Maybe for me it was in my nature to not get caught up in it from the beginning. I naturally hate crowds.
“...but, most of us, drive our cars nearly every day.”
~~~
These are things that people consider rights, and the politicians have not dared to fully infringe upon. Even though driving is a ‘privilege’ licensed and levied by the power of the state, the point still holds true.
They wont take alcohol away from the masses for the same reason. They even tried that one once.
Abortion will probably never go away for the same reason. In their heart of hearts, lefties know that a baby is dying. But this has been a ‘right’ for so long, politicians don’t have the spine to stop it.
Driving isn’t just necessary. Even if people didn’t need to drive to work or necessity, they’d still take to the streets and raise hell if someone tried to take that away. It’s probably as close (in psychology) to being symbolic of our freedom as any action we take in our daily lives.
I wasn’t attacking the empathy of the author. I was suggesting that the current “crisis” is minor in historical comparison. It’s our collective reaction to it that seems significant. What I was suggesting was that those who lived to genuinely hard times, while having sympathy for people’s feelings today, would probably be able to offer some stern warnings about perspective.
You won’t. This is 1984: “We’ve always been at war with Oceania.”
As soon as the new vaccine is given to enough people and the vaccine kills them off so china can take over.
I don’t think so, as soon as he gets inaugurated the enforcement/penalties are going to kick in.
If you think the lock down rules are bad now, just wait, they are going to use this to beat you into submission, gotta hope there are some State Governments out there with some spines.
And I’m not holding out for Governor Abbott.
People used to say, "As soon as the election is over, the virus will mysteriously disappear."
At first, I agreed with that sentiment; if Trump won, he would fire Fauci and company, the vaccine would be approved, and that would signal the end to the long nightmare that was 2020.
If Biden won, the Left would've gotten what they wanted, and would've backed off from fueling the national hysteria. They would've fed the media the story that even before taking office, the virus would somehow recognize who was being inaugurated, and was slowly retreating. (Kind of like the oceans receding after Obama took office.)
Now however, I think the Left will continue to use this crisis as a means to their end. There's going to be a reckoning for the Trump administration, and they're going after supporters. Unless you submit to them, they will not allow you to come out. You won't be able to worship or congregate, attend sporting events or concerts, or dine in restaurants.
Fauci and his ilk will be watching the vaccination numbers. If they don't go up significantly, they will continue to shame (and restrict) us for not rushing out to vaccinate.
