While John and Yoko had their bed-in protest at the Hilton...over in Czechoslovakia, singer Marta Kubišová, was in the streets, protesting for freedom while Soviet tanks rolled through the city. During this communist show of force, Kubišová's "A Prayer for Marta" became an underground anthem of freedom. Kubišová wasn't imprisoned--merely banned--reduced to a menial job for 20 years. Above is a video; Kubišová sings the anthem from a balcony--impromptu--just after communism has fallen; a crowd gathers in the streets; they see her perform for the first time in 20 years.... As the left rises in America, I watch this video and feel better.
The left went full insane under Trump.
They don’t like it but they can live with a bush or romney.
They HAD to destroy Trump and many Rs wanted that too.
I think things will not go as far left as some think.
There is less profit in it than the SLOW drain of America’s wealth and freedom.
Deep state realizes the damage that can be done if they keep going.
They just wanted Trump out.
If a rubio wins in 2024 (if Trump does indeed not get a second term), they will dislike him greatly but he will NEVER be in the same category as Trump
No one will. And that’s why they felt that they needed him out.
Or I could be completely wrong. :)
Thanks for posting that.
Hey c’mon now. Had some things right. Climb up tall ladder...look into that thing-a-ma-bob and what to you see? Existential art.
Piss Christ. Not art.

F* em all. They all need to go!
Working class hero? John Lennon 'was closet conservative and fan of Reagan'

That is what is so galling about this election. The left was soundly defeated!
Hello. I hope this doesn’t turn into a debate about the Beatles, though I did frame this in an ugly way...my fault for that. “But when you go talkin’ bout Chairman Mao”.... “Taxman”... the sardonic “Back in the USSR.” Very nice. I maybe should’ve used Fonda as an example.
Yoko did not only destroy the Beatles, but the world.
One of the things I gotten into over the years, is listening and researching music behind the Iron Curtain.
After 1968, probably the most significant underground band in Czechoslovakia was “The Plastic People of the Universe”, who took the name from the Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention song.
Frank and Vaclav Havel became good friends, and Frank’s last live performance ever took place in Prague in 1991.
Agreed.
Killing us quickly or a little less quickly still means death for us.
Said as a guy who refused a gig because I didn’t want to play any Beatles music.
Interesting that Marta did a cover of “Hey Jude” in 1969

Glad I was born too late to witness that particular display of exhibitionist narcissism. The “bed-in”, not the Soviet tanks rolling through the streets.
Yeh... when my kids act up, I threaten them with a Yoko Ono song.
NO prob. Thanks for posting. Intentions good.
Play it again Sam.

One of my all time favs.
What a beauty that Ingrid.
“That is what is so galling about this election. The left was soundly defeated!”
Just like the communist NVA and VC were thoroughly defeated in the 1968 Tet Offensive in Vietnam.
But it took just one broadcast by “Uncle” Walter Cronkite to convince America that “the war is unwinnable”.
And it has already become sacrilege to say that this election was anything other than fair & free of fraud.
IMHO, there’s something about thinking for yourself & drawing your own conclusions that make you into a lonely rebel whom no one likes.
Bogle...Bogie...close enough. : )
