Merry Christmas to all of you here, our Free Republic family...
No matter what happens next year, I'd like to say, always remember we are - and have been - part of the greatest place, the most exceptional society, and the most compassionate and generous people on the Earth.
We're all put here for a reason, and it's up to each of us to find that reason.
It may take a lifetime of searching; but the journey is the important thing.
To the families of all the souls we've lost this year, I want to tell you that you are not alone.
Your loved ones are not forgotten; they live in your and our hearts always. Each one of us remembers the lives of family members we've lost. We remember them laughing, singing, dancing, and smiling; we remember all the "I Love You"'s and the million little things that made each of them - and make each of us - unique.
That never goes away, unless WE let it go away.
Hug your spouse, your children, grandchildren, even your dogs and cats, whomever you have, and love them like every day is the last day. You can't say "I love you" enough... and it means more than you know.
When you hug, hug like you'll never let go.
When you love, love like you've never loved before, like it's your first love all over again.
When you remember, remember the best of days and times, the way they smiled, the way they laughed, the way they made YOU feel alive. That is how memories remain in our heart and help us heal.
In the midst of all these things great and small happening around us, I hope that each of us takes a little time every day to say a prayer for those souls we loved, wish them Godspeed and a safe journey, and keep a candle lit in the window of your heart to light the way and guide them back safely to us one day...
...and us back to them, eventually.
We will see them again.
Merry Christmas to you all. And God bless us, each and everyone, past, present, and future.
