A fake call centre targeting foreign nationals in the name of bogus tech support of @Microsoft and @HPSupport has been busted by @DelhiPolice CyPAD Unit and 17 persons arrested, including owner and operaters.
I can smell this picture.
I probably got several of their calls. I enjoyed the comic relief.
They kept telling me I was having problems with Microsoft Windows—on my Chromebook? ;-)
There are some great YouTube videos of hackers who are able to flip the script on these scammers and actually take over their machines! Quite hilarious.

I get three calls a week from an Indian call center pretending to be the social security administration telling me my SSN has been suspended and they have a warrant to arrest me. I play along, I had one rube hanging on fir an hour and a half one day. He had me drive to a Best Buy and purchase 4 $500 gift cards. When I told him I worked for a broadcast television station and would he like to comment, he hung up.
Another dolt told me his name was “Officer Christopher McGarry”. I told him he sounds like his name is “Pradeep”. That’s when he hung up on me.
They are a lot of fun!!
A combination of incense, body odor, and tumeric and other spices.
I actually enjoy getting those calls. They’re very entertaining, and I try to keep them on the line as long as I can to prevent them from scamming someone else.
Sometimes, I start the conversation by asking what type of gift cards they want and for how much. One idiot actually took the bait, and told me. I strung him along for about 20 minutes.

I must get a dozen of those calls a day. I’ve gotten to the point if I don’t recognize the number, I don’t answer. If they really need to speak to me, they can leave a voice mail.

What? Did I blunder by signing in to 10 different extended warranties ? I thought it is better to be protected 10 fold!
One of those pr!cks is likely the one I screamed at on the phone after wasting an hour of his time for trying to defraud my mother.
It’s a good thing I happened to be in town that day.
