Eyes are opening everywhere about governors going totalitarian in their zeal to stop COVID.
At this late date, stopping COVID has little to do with their own behavior. Michigan’s Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, California’s Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Virginia’s Gov. Ralph Northam, inter alia, just seem to get their kicks by ordering others to do things they themselves disdain in their private lives.
It isn’t just that they command you and me not to have large family gatherings over Thanksgiving and Christmas, they then go to parties completely at odds with their own orders. They demand we mask up between bites, but don’t even wear masks at their own dinners with strangers. They henpeck us to maintain social distancing and don't bother doing it themselves.
These double standards would be infuriating enough. But their repeated resort to shutting down their economies has driven thousands of small businesses to close their doors forever. Not only did business owners lose their investments and years of labor in building up their businesses, the people who worked for them lost their jobs when the businesses closed.
This kind of thing was never what the Founders had in mind. It was very much this kind of imperious arrogance that led early Americans to rebel against the British. But even King George III was never out to bankrupt small businesses and farmers; even he recognized that to deprive people of their livelihood would be to strike at the very foundation of life itself.

Power is not leaving people to their own devices and desires. Power is forcing other people to do the things that most disgust them.
They aren’t suffering enough consequences.
I am very surprised that we haven’t seen consequences.
Make no mistake they have been given the edict to destroy small businesses. Without small business then they partner with government with Amazon and Google and Twitter and Facebook will take take what information we need and don’t need and Supplies all of your stuff( should be frightening that Amazon is now in the pharmacy business). They will be determined if you don’t need anything. That is why they are shutting the cities down because small businesses can’t survive... don’t be surprised if Amazon or Google start getting into the banking business.
Andy Coumo of NY is as bad, if not worse than those listed. He has turned into a real tin pot dictator.
I would say the REAL test is if the voters do ANYTHING about it, but with the Banana Republic style voting systems they have put in place, nothing will / can be changed through the ballot box.

When leftists talk about “millionaires and billionaires”, what they mean are small business men and women, especially successful ones. The ones who made some money, but not enough to be inducted into the clubs of the ruling elite. They operate locally or regionally, but not globally and they do not consider themselves “citizens of the world”.
They wield power and influence that is not shaped by the globalist agenda, and that makes them a threat to globalism. That is why they want to destroy them.
Only one person was trying to stop them. Trump. and just now people realize they have become serfs? Sorry, quite possibly too late. The people who are stealing the election want to take the local dictatorships national.

I'd say it this way: A major side effect of the virus is that it causes fascists lose their ability to hide it.
