Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant's appeal to dismiss the recall effort against her will head to the Washington State Supreme Court in January 2021 where it is expected to be decided without oral arguments.
Back in September, King County Superior Judge Jim Rogers allowed four of the six charges alleged in the petition to go forward, saying in his order that the petitioner had proved "knowledge of facts indicating that the Councilmember intended to commit an unlawful act."
The charges filed by petitioner Ernest Lou and certified by the lower courts alleged Sawant "used her position in violation of the law or has recklessly undermined the safety of others."
The allegations involve giving protesters access to City Hall, leading a march to Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan's house, using city resources to promote a Tax Amazon ballot initiative and delegating hiring decisions to her political group, Socialist Alternative.
Two other charges, both alleging Sawant's participation in the creation of the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest Zone around the East Precinct, were dropped by the petitioner ahead of the hearing.
Sawant's legal defense - which is being paid for by the city of Seattle as voted by the City Council in September - submitted an appeal of the lower court's certification of the recall which is expected to head to the Washington State Supreme Court at their Jan. 7 conference.

I know nothing of the Washington state supreme court, but I no longer have faith in the impartiality of justice in the USA, thanks to the politicization of justice elsewhere by left-wing judges.

I know plenty about the Washington State Supreme. Extremely corrupt.
They will approve the petition. Their attorney is former U.S. Attorney John McKay, and he is probably very close friends with most of the members of the State Supreme Court. He’s also gay.
His firm, Davis Wright Tremaine is the most politically powerful firm in the state; more connected than even Perkins Coie.

Not in Washington. You have to get the blessing of the State Supreme Court. If the elected official is politically connected, you have no chance of getting it to the collection of signature stage.
Since Durban and McKay are two former US Attorneys, they are connected and the WASC will approve the petition. They are also both gay. Durkan is openly gay; and everyone knows McKay is, too.
Perkins Cole is the Democrats’ go-to law firm. They will never be held accountable. A slap on the wrist is the most they will ever.
