Dec. 2 (UPI) -- An Ontario, Canada, man who lost his wallet 54 years ago had the item returned to him after another man found it in an old couch.
Darcy Major, 86, of Port Dover, said his wallet went missing in 1966, and he never found out what happened to it until Christopher Camacho got in touch with his children.
Camacho found the wallet in an old couch and got Major's name from the documents inside, which included a driver's license, an old check and a dog license.
Camacho wrote in the Currently in Port Dover group on Facebook that he had fished the wallet out of an old couch and was trying to find its owner.
Commenters on the post helped Camacho get in touch with Major's children, who informed their father that his wallet was found.
"It was unreal, where's it been for all those years," Major told the Simcoe Reformer. "It must have been a good couch."
Major said he was grateful to Camacho for tracking him down.
"It's quite a thrill, even though everything is outdated," Major said. "There's honest people out there to return it. He could've put it in the garbage, and it's so nice that there's people like that."
A 54 year old couch is the better part of this story.
I lost my wallet on a ski trip to St. Moritz. I back traced my steps and went through all the shops in the vicinity of the ski lifts in Silz Maria, the next town over. One of the shop keepers had it. Someone had found it at the bottom of one of the lifts and given it to him in case I came in and asked for it. It had fallen out of my pocket.
First place you should look.
No one cleaned behind the cushions in 54 years? LOL
It’d be great to see a photo of the couch.
The last ten years or so I have stared using my front pockets or breast pocket in jackets to hold my wallet.
Why?
WALLET SCIATICA:

It was hidden below the pile of Cheetos.
In my old photos, we were wearing coats and ties while traveling, on airplanes and especially in Europe. Not any more. Everybody's gone casual.
He found it in the last place he looked.
Some pants aggravate that more than others for me. Blue jeans, for one - but for anything more than short trips, I put my wallet in the center console - and invariably forget to retrieve it at my destination.
My old friend Leon used to have a little trick he practiced when our dining. He would feel between the cushions with his hand hoping to find loose change or maybe a wallet.
One time he was feeling up a couch at a local Mexican food joint and his hand touched something that felt like horsehide. Ahah, he thought, a nice wallet.
Much to his chagrin he pulled out a mummified rat that had been in the cushions for years.
His date of the evening was less than impressed!

Yep, that’s what causes it!...................
I've kept my wallet in my front pants pocket for at least 40 years.
A friend lost his keys which I found a few weeks later in the couch. He hasn’t spoken to us since as if it was our fault he lost them. Fine by me. They are RATS and believe in open marriage and except the high priced daycare that stays open into the evening to raise their kids.
“He found it in the last place he looked.”
Funny how that works.
But when you find it, it’s always in the last place you look.
Are you 90?
