The couple, from Wailua, Kauai, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of reckless endangerment after getting on a flight traveling from San Francisco to Lihue.
Kauai police said the man and woman, both age 46, knew they had tested positive for the virus and placed other passengers on the flight in “danger of death.”

Preflight COVID testing at an approved lab is required for travel to Hawaii.
Wait...I thought masks and distancing worked?
So they failed the test and tried to sneak on? Forged paperwork?
I still am confused as to the “crime”.
I don’t make a “legal case” against this although there could certainly be a civil case.
This is just indecent. Period.
I am not too worried about myself, but I am concerned about my parents and our last remaining grandparent. The statistics for them are much different. If some jerk knew they were contagious and sat next to me on a plane and I passed this on to my elders or others I would be furious. If I got sick like some friends have been with this (they survived) I would be furious.
These people are jerks. Period. I would NEVER think to be around others who had no knowledge of my condition if I were sick. I have missed two flights in my life because I was sick and it was my decision - airline refunded both tickets - because I called and told them.
I said what they did is messed up.
Reminds me of the a-holes that come to work sick, and are proud how “tough” they are. They just cause more total sick days overall to be used.
Agree. My office is generally pretty good about staying home if they are sick, but I have known people like that.
I am lucky that I do not get sick too often. Allergies kill me at different times of the year, but thankful I am pretty healthy.
Hawaii has gone crazy over this virus. May be the most draconian state of them all and they have been hit really hard despite all their efforts. I talked to some co-workers down there and it was far beyond anything we have seen.
And the maskers and COVID delusion panic-mongers right here on FR, cheer their arrest.
Excellent point.
BOOM! Comment of the day.
My buddy lives in Kona.
For a state that relies on tourism heavily, this is not good.
Gov Ige seems a true d-bag.
ridiculous
That’s hilarious
But knowingly spreading HIV isn’t nearly as problematic.
55 year old male: high fever, shortness of breath, debilitating weakness, nausea. Resolved after 3 weeks, with continuing mild fatigue (has lasted for 3 months, getting better every month)
Hey, that was me every year. Zact same symptoms and lingering effects.
Last season I didn’t want to get sick again and find myself at the hospital again.
Didn’t get sick for the 1st time in forever.
Took flu shot again and so far not sick. I am usually sick by November.
Maybe I’ll get lucky again.
And it is a stupid cold virus.
And if you’re over 116, you voted for Biden.
Defamation incoming?
This stuff the young and healthy just shake off, often without even really thinking about it. Hard on the sick and the old though.
(Which might suggest a strategy for who should be advised to isolate, but our Governor doesn’t seem to think that way)

Now the governors can’t back off because to do so would be to admit they were wrong and the lockdown and destruction of businesses was pointless.
How can it be reckless endangerment if everyone wears a mask? Mask nazis insist we wear masks everywhere.
Exactly.
BizarroWorld.
