SHHHHH: GOP could take the House (vanity)
Vanity (with cnn results) ^ | 12/01/2020 | OrangeHoof

OK. The Democrats stole the presidency. They're doing everything possible to steal the Senate. But they were apparently confident that they would win the House without tomfoolery as it appears from this graphic:

https://edition.cnn.com/election/2020/results/house

that the GOP will fall just five House votes short of a majority. Although CNN shows a 222-209 margin, the four "undecided seats are all either won or will be won by Republicans so it's really 222-213. 218 is needed to have a majority.

What might it take to get five Democrats to switch parties? Remember Jeff Van Drew (NJ) switched sides and still won re-election. Had she run again and won, I could see Tulsi Gabbard (HI) as a potential party switch after the way she was mistreated.

How much might it take to get five to switch? Promise them committee seats in the new House? Promise them a place among committee chairmanships? Promise them passage of a favorite piece of legislation?

Surely some of them won in districts where Trump won handily. Maybe we could offer them a Trump rally when they run for re-election.

As a Republican, the media sees you as a hero when you disagree with party leadership. As a Democrat, you are gagged and shunned.

As a last resort, perhaps some campaign cash can be transacted.

Corrupt pigs in the press called John McCain a 'maverick' and hung on his every word. But in all these years NOT ONE NEW YORK TIMES OR WP REPORTER has ever used the term 'maverick' in reference to a democrat. Maybe that WP jerk David Ignatius could tell us why that is...

It’s called “lying to his constituents.” We already have enough of that garbage.

Trump knows what’s going on and he’s throwing everything at them rather then doing a Nixon and backing out quietly.

The opposite of a quitter.

As for Barr, Durham and the DoJ, they are now complicit in one of the greatest crimes in US history. There’s no way they don’t know what’s gone down, they have all the assets needed to see the steal traffic on the internet, cell phones, people moving etc. Whether they were explicitly in on the deal or just instinctively know when to stand back, it’s on them.

Will the SCOTUS be as reticent?

We know where Roberts stands. But there’s new blood over there, and they owe the Rats nothing. It may be the last stand for America in that courtroom. If they roll over, the whole thing could crumble into sectional fighting, with real live weapons.

No way we let a gang of criminals led by Kamao run what’s left of the “Free World”.

If Republicans took the House...what would they do with it???

Hopefully put the brakes on the outright communism that will come out of Washington otherwise.

If the RATS had a 2 vote lead they would win every vote because they stick together. The GOPee is too stupid to understand how that works. The RATS would stand in line to climb a tree to tell the same damn lie.

“Tomfoolery? Is that how you’re actually describing this theft?”

I was going to say... this is the stuff of stone walls and firing squads.

Actually 3 of those undecided races have been called for the GOP with one still undecided. I don’t see where you are going to get any Dem members of the house ta switch. Senator Mancin might but he is in the Senate. We are going to have to work our buns off two years from now to take it back.

Agreed. But sometimes you need all the bullets you can get (100% dependable or not) when it comes to things like advice and consent for SCOTUS Justices.

It shows there was a deal done. R’s get most of the house, senate is a draw and the dead guy walking gets the Presidency.

There was a dirty deal for Biden to get the presidency, the Dems to keep the House, and the GOP to keep the Senate. The fix in GA allowed Gov. Kemp to keep his appointed senator over Collins. Keeping the Senate enables Republican senators to hold the balance of power and get lots of money for their coffers, as the only check on a Dem administration. The old guard GOP wants Trump out so the likes of Romney and the Bushes can rule the party again, or so they hope. It may well be that Dems could only keep the House with massive fraud. A few Dem seats might be flipped if there is a serious investigation into the voter fraud.

15 of them voted against pelosi for speaker last time....5 lost, but 10 are returning..and from red districts...they really have the power now.....pelosi threatened them and ignored them before, but not now.

Pelosi will not return as Speaker. Dems know she cost them seats. Should she then resign, her sear would remain vacant pending a special election, further reducing Dem seats temporarily.

I know. I doubt he would have with an “R” after his name. He’s a typical political creature who will sell out for his party or to win reelection. Better that he does it for the GOP than the Dems.

We knocked off the most “conservative” ‘Rats, Collin Peterson of Minnesota and Ben McAdams of Utah.

The only reliable pro-life democrat, Dan Lipinski of southwest Chicago, was defeated in the primary by a madwoman baby killer.

Other than the two ‘Rats you mentioned, are there any other “Blue Dogs” left? Jared Golden from ME-2? Abigail “Nothingburger” Spanberger from VA-7? Tim Ryan from Youngstown, OH? Cindy Axne from IA-3? I looked at the American Conservative Union ratings for all the ‘Rats. I cannot see five members of their party crossing the aisle. I hope I’m wrong, but I can’t see it. Conor Lamb from PA-17 was supposed to be “moderate”, but he is a left-winger from the old school.

What I could see would be someone like O’Halleran cutting a deal with the GOP where he would become the speaker, the renegade ‘Rats who support him would get key chairmanships and he would give the remaining committee chairmanships to the GOP. It would really be helpful if Claudia Tenney somehow hangs on to her 12 vote lead and wins in NY-22.

When a sufficient number of ‘Rats decide that their electoral futures require them to walk away from Pelosi, all of a sudden there won’t be 218 votes to re-elect Pelosi. I’ve seen rumors that the party rank and file would like to elect Hakeem Jeffries of New York City to be speaker, but he may not have 218 votes either.
