Oscar-nominated star Ellen Page has come out as a transgender male named Elliot.

The 33-year-old actor took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to share an emotional statement with the revelation.

It began: 'Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, My pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot.

'I feel lucky to be writing this. To have arrived at this place in my life.'

Just checked out Page's wikipedia page. They've already changed it to Elliot. They're uncertain about some of the edits because "because we don't know if he identifies as a lesbian currently?"

I went to public school. I don’t know a pronoun from an adjective. In 5th grade I made a conscious decision to stop learning grammar and spelling. My little brother made the same decision when he was in 2nd grade.
