The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

I looked him up.
Originally I thought he was circumstance. Turns out he’s:
“XXXX -adjective. squat [adjective] short and fat; dumpy. stubby [adjective] being a stub, or short and thick like a stub”
I checked my answer, because I have the awesome responsibility of posting the correct answer tomorrow. I have almost zero information about the author other than what dates and places of birth and death, and dates and rank of military service.
Congrats for tomorrow. What an honor!!
Forgive my flippant answer to you, I was more inclined to give a cryptic clue for the CG.
I pulled out my 1976 edition of “Who was Who in American History-The Military” to look up this author. He’s not listed.
I volunteered to help Nikos out by posting the correct answer every day. I have to wait for Nikos to post. Since I work I have to check periodically on workdays.
A bit over a minute.
Start with the letter combo in the 3rd word and it’s pretty much easy after that.
Couple minutes, no idea on the author, had to search
