McDonald's is entering the chicken sandwich war with this crispy little number...
Who can forget last year’s chicken sandwich wars? I kind of miss when the Popeyes and Chick-fil-a feud was the most dramatic thing going on in my life. Even Wendy’s and Shake Shack got in on the action, but this year McDonald’s is the brand to watch.
The Golden Arches are debuting a brand-new Crispy Chicken Sandwich early next year, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Here’s what we have to look forward to in 2021.
McDonald’s Menu Is Getting Bigger
McDonald’s put out a press release revealing its intention to “expand its chicken offerings,” partly by introducing this new sandwich, but they didn’t give too many details besides the name—the Crispy Chicken Sandwich! I’m confident that McDonald’s will wow us with juicy fried chicken, a delicious soft bun (brioche, maybe?!), and some unique new sauce to top it all off.
We’re thinking that this new sandwich will build on McDonald’s other chicken offerings—especially the McChicken Biscuit and the Chicken McGriddle. If you’ve had those delicious breakfast items, you probably get why we’re so excited.
Another addition to the McDonald’s menu will be the McPlant. If you’re not sure what that is, you’re not alone—the McPlant is McDonald’s first-ever plant-based burger. The patty is made by Beyond Meat (you may have heard of them before) layered with lettuce, tomato, cheese and onions, all finished with a sesame seed bun. Even if you’re not a vegetarian, this sandwich will be a guaranteed hit.

The new McDonald’s Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the McPlant won’t be around for a little while, but that just gives us something tasty to look forward to. We can most likely expect the new sammies in early 2021, though we’re hoping for an official rollout at the end of December. Only time will tell!

Never a big fan of Waffle House, but definitely better than McD and all day BK. Really my pick for breakfast after breakfast is a local place called Bisbee Breakfast Club. That’s good all day breakfast. On the national level First Watch is pretty solid, but they’re not open much past lunch.
NOT the first - there was a McLean sandwich that was basically seaweed. White liberal 'elites' begged for it - then of course NEVER went into a McDonalds to eat one. They were dreadful (the sandwich)... and (the 'elites')

McDonald’s started serving breakfast all day in the fall of 2015. If it was such a big failure, why did it take them five years, and a fake virus to stop the program?
I managed to learn enough to get my masters degree in history. And I actually did the research for my thesis, by traveling around the country, seeking out, and using primary source material, not using newspaper articles as evidence.
Actually McD started working with all day breakfast in limited markets 2006, and it always failed. They were desperate about their dropping sales so they went national with it anyway. It immediately ran into all the problems nationally it had run into locally. But they were pigheaded and unwilling to admit they were wrong.
And yet you’re not willing to learn how McD’s works and why everybody knew the all day breakfast was going to fail miserably and it did exactly what was predicted.
Which proves to me that they were dumb then, and were still dumb in 2015 when they launched all-day breakfast around the country. The problem is, that when you provide something to a large number of people, they get used to having access to it. Then, after a period of years, it is taken away at a time convenient for the company to do it, ie., lockdown. Had they taken notice of the failure in the market all those years ago, they could have saved themselves a lot of money. As I mentioned in one of my comments to someone else, no matter what time of day I go to McDonald's here, I have to pull up and wait for a burger and fries to get done. I don't order anything special, just what's on the menu. If I have to sit in my car and wait for a burger and fries to be cooked, why can't I wait for them to cook me a breakfast sandwich? I don't mind waiting. That's the choice I make when I go there.
I really don’t care how McD works. They are there for my benefit. They are supposed to make the customer happy, not the other way around. They’ve made bad business decisions, and continue to do so, all for the mighty dollar.
You can have all that crap they sell. Will not eat fast food.
They were smart in doing the experiments. The benefit of having 10s of thousands of stores is that you can try things out. But you have to pay attention to the results. By 2015 they were desperate, that makes everybody dumb. Sales were dropping, customer satisfaction was dropping, quality and service times were taking a hit. More importantly the game was changing. Quick service places like Sauce, Pei Wei, and 5 Guys were hitting the market being not as quick but way better. And were killing McDs in the market.
So they ignored their info. Made a desperate move. And it failed. Breakfast were just enough to be a problem. Quality and service times continued to suffer. And worse so did revenue because the breakfast items are cheaper. In less than a year they were letting franchises limit the breakfast all day menu. The initiative had already failed, but nobody was willing to admit it.
It’s all related though. Do to the additional complication service times dropped. So now they couldn’t pull off McD standards. And you had to wait for everything. That was part of the failure.
Because you’re not supposed to have to wait for McD. 30 seconds. That’s the target. And they’re failing. And they’re going to keep failing because they keep making variations of the same wrong move. They need to shred most of the menu. Get back to what they were good at, a limited number of items very quickly. Every time they add more crap to the menu they just keep digging the same hole.
You should care how they work. That what makes a person smarter and more well rounded. It’s also how you can see things coming. All day breakfast WASN’T making the customer happy. It was exacerbating the problem they wanted to fix. Revenue kept dropping. Customer count kept dropping. Quality kept dropping. Service levels kept dropping. Customer satisfaction kept dropping. They aren’t for your benefit, they’re for stockholders benefit. And that kept dropping too.
If you bother to know how it works you can see it coming. 5 years ago I told folks not to get used to all day breakfast at McD. Cause it was doomed to fail, and they’d be pulling the plug at some point. Cause I know how it works. I was surprised the stuck to it as long as they did, guess that what happens when a company is out of ideas. But it was always doomed.
Don’t. I don’t each much either, maybe 3 times a year, at most. I find McDonald’s sandwiches dry and underdressed. I like their French fries and has browns if they’re hot out of the fryer and I don’t always get them that way. I like BK’s crossanwiches but don’t get them often.
I cook most of my food. I like to cook and I can tolerate doing the dishes if there aren’t too many.

I do the cooking at home, do not eat out except for a dinner at a real restaurant.
Prefer my own cooking and wife has learned to tolerate my need for hot spices. Breakfast is usually a hard boiled egg and coffee. Toast or my own spicy cornbread.
Wait until i get home while out and about, but do carry a granola bar in my gym bag for emergencies. It is so old should be tossed out.
Not bothered with fast food since college after work when I had no choice and did not have granola bars then.
LOL!! There are far more important topics for me to become "more well rounded" on, than how McDonald's runs their business. How could that possibly be important to someone like me, who's got one foot in the grave, and the other on a banana peel?
No there aren’t. Because if you know how McD’s runs their business you know how fast service works, you know how franchise businesses work, you know how pricing works (the BigMac index is actually quite fascinating), and you learn a lot about the meat and potatoes of capitalism. Never too old to learn, never too old to grow.
You have your interests, and I have mine. Wasting my last years on learning something I have no interest is, would be time I could never get back. Let me spend my time as I like, at least until the commies take over the country, and then we won’t have to worry about how capitalism works.
