A teenager has been taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital after a shooting Friday morning in the South Linden neighborhood. Columbus police reported the shooting about 11:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of East 18th Avenue. According to the CEO of LifeCare Alliance, a 75-year-old Meals on Wheels driver was involved in the shooting after two young males attempted to rob him.
Columbus Police said the driver has a concealed carry license. According to police, a 14-year-old suspect pointed a gun at the victim and demanded the victim get out of his car, which the victim did. A second suspect, believed to be 15-year-old, allegedly stole the victim’s cellphone and wallet.
When the 14-year-old started the vehicle, the victim pulled his gun, police said. The 14-year-old pointed his gun at the victim, at which point, the victim shot at the teens three times, hitting the 14-year-old at least once, police said. The 15-year-old suspect fled on foot, police said.

I don’t think he’s deceased.
Time to call a spade a spade.

“Teen shot while attempting to rob Meals on Wheels driver”
“Teen” is the giveaway word...
“Time to call a spade a spade.”
So to speak...for those of us of a certain age.😎
How soon before he gets added to the list of child victims of gun crime (forgetting to mention that the crime was his)?
I just don’t have a problem shooting to kill anyone who threatens the life of anyone. The only problem I have is that I fear I would enjoy it. I am that angry and fed up with crap.
“Police said the 14-year-old was arrested in August for theft of a motor vehicle, a felony. He was also arrested in July for two counts of felony robbery and kidnapping.”
The gift that will keep on giving...
Are you requiring me to ask for ID?
There are some very large 14 year olds in some demographics.
I love this.
“The Meals on Wheels driver is a retired police officer and was armed, Gherig said, but added they do not allow guns in their facilities nor do they provide weapons to any of their drivers.
Columbus Police said the driver will not be charged. Charges are pending against the 14-year-old.
Police said the 14-year-old was arrested in August for theft of a motor vehicle, a felony. He was also arrested in July for two counts of felony robbery and kidnapping.”
What the hell is he doing out of jail??
We have deliberately become a very sick society and paying the price for it.
Or more precisely - black teen thug with multiple felonies shot trying to rob a 75 yr old man.
Retired cop, won’t be charged.
What if he was just a regular citizen?
Same outcome?
“The 14-year-old pointed his gun at the victim, at which point, the victim shot at the teens three times, hitting the 14-year-old at least once, police said..”
In baseball, that would be batting .333%.
You have to be some kind of evil to rob an old guy doing charity work.
Terminal evil!
Excellent question.
What the hell is he doing out of jail??
At some point his age will hit a number specified by his state that will then transition him into the adult system. But until then it will be catch and release.
When he becomes an adult, his juvenile record will still be kept confidential, so for his first adult crime he will be treated as a first offender.
Michel Brown, the Ferguson ‘Gentle Giant’, apparently had an extensive juvenile record that I’m sure local law enforcement was well aware of but has been kept secret to this day.
Yes, the word "Teen" has developed very dark connotations.
It was a rhetorical question. I hope that I can and that I don’t hesitate. Police face this all of the time.
