Hello Fellow FReepers, I have been posting several articles via their HTML source. I notice that apostrophes are not being rendered correctly after the article is posted. I see two square marks in the place of the apostrophes.
Does anybody notice the same weird thing?
Lingering character set problem, after FreeRepublic.com migration.
Yesterday too
Ay caramba! How in the world can we create plural’s without apostrophe’s?!
seems to be fixed ?
People please take a minute to pay attention. @RudyGiuliani @gatewaypundit @mschlapp, @pnjaban @DanScavino @LouDobbs @SidneyPowell1 @SaraCarterDC @DineshDSouza @realDonaldTrump @DonaldJTrumpJr @ali— Roscoe B Davis
It’s a known fault. See this post:

John’s been working pretty much 24/7 since the mandated FR shutdown a couple of days ago. He’ll get to it.
You need to get your sarcasm detector fixed.
Quotes are coming up as carets or circumflexes as well. I did not notice this until the migration this past week.
cripes...or not...posted a couple of minutes ago...

I would wager a bet pasting from another source you need to check your “text encoding”. Even pasting into another text editor you can’t be certain unless you check deeper.
You can see above that “text encoding” came out fine. I typed directly into the FR Textbox.
Yes! It's annoying as ' '' ''' ''' ''''
“,” ?
I'm shocked!
No but this one is. Here's an apostrophe
ampersand, pound sign, 39, semicolon
Opps...meant ...”’”
How do you pronounce HTML?
It’s something I’ve noticed.
This has happened before, and eventually gets fixed in the FR code.
Until it gets fixed again, try importing your cut and paste text into Notepad, then cut and paste the Notepad text into the FR edit window.
The Notepad step strips all unicode out of the text, which is what is causing the issues with punctuation.
There was the same issue a few years ago, but the Robs sorted it out. I think the recent migration to the new servers probably has something to do with it reappearing. I would be surprised if they don’t sort it out again.
Copy text into Notepad then copy that text into your post.
Notepad will strip out extraneous hidden code.
c:\windows\notepad
Create shortcut to the desktop and start menu for future use.
Right click on it and Pin to Start and Create shortcut
Patience. I expect John Rob is working on it.
And yes, of course we noticed.
