With all the news about what Biden plans to do regarding the 2nd Amendment, and how he has already reached out to BATF, I started thinking about topping off my supply.
Sticker shock!!
3 months ago I purchased 1000 rounds of Federal P9HST1 for $750. Now that is going for $1,250. $1.25 for a hollow point 9mm, whodathunk!
At that time if I have a pound of flour I might be able to pay off my house.
None to be had in East Texas. Bird shot. A few obscure rifle cartridges.
that’s cray cray prices. Got my stash in the early Obama years. But of Course I lost it in a a canoeing accident and a hurricane, it was such a tragedy.
What was bought, will be easy.
What you need for tomorrow will be impossible.
Aim Small, Miss Small!
FWIW, I was in Walmart the other day for groceries and their gun case was FULL of guns. I didn’t check prices, or the price of ammo, but I’ve read in other places that Walmart is no longer selling guns of any kind, so it was nice to see that they ARE still available in The Heartland.
The Heartland. That ‘magical place’ where we grow/raise all the FOOD and pay our taxes to support the doucheb@gs on either coast? Yeah. That place. ;)
And I was annoyed when buying my last 7.62 case at $0.26/round.
You will need a single handgun with one or three bullets. But you will have to harvest. It is defiantly harder that way.
I bought 3 x 50 rounds of 9mm FMJ brass at $0.32/round and 3 x 20 rounds 5.56mm FMJ brass at $0.60/round at my local Big 5 Sporting Goods today. Three boxes for each caliber is the limit.
Usually Big 5 is higher than most stores but not lately. I found out their deliveries are on Wednesdays and are in stock by 12:30 pm. They are usually gone by 1:30.
PRICE is really irrelevant when one cannot find ammo in-stock! What I really don’t get - I’m having no luck finding brand name/premium ammunition for the most popular calibers - despite these supposedly being the high-priority production. 30-06? .308? 9mm?
I realize that the Remington ammo plant has been practically idled for a couple of months... but none of the other ammo manufacturers have been...
I even contemplated getting my old press and dies out... until I looked for components... bullet+powere+primeers (assuming I have good brass), the cost is actually even higher than the exorbitant prices I have seen for premium factory stuff... What is going on? This would appear to be more than simple “supply & demand”. I’ve heard that manufacturers are having a hard time getting raw materials... is this another creative use of a virus to strangle the supply chain - another way to conspire to restrict ammunition to citizens?
Just a couple of months ago - the best price for Tula steel 9mm was $1.04 per round! It fell off a bit since then. Still - insanity!
Then give me some of that cash-ola that’s being printed.... Cause I apparently didn’t get me share of it!
Walmart does not sell firearms in New Mexico any longer. They stopped selling 556, 9mm, 40 and 45 ammo. Shotgun, Hunting type calibers and 22lr remain available.
doesnt help me if they don’t come by and drop some off for me
no
1 shot every 20 seconds if you’re a highly skilled loader
Local Bass Pro/Cabela’s yesterday for grins and giggles... Two boxes of .17 Hornet, 7 boxes of .350 Legend, 4 boxes of 6mm Creedmore, 1 box of 7mm Rem SUM, One box of .264 WinMag, and one box of some kind fo Weatherby mag... Oh - and about 8 boxes of .50BMG!!! ZERO handgun ammo in ANY caliber. ZERO rimfire ammo, and quite a bit of birdshot in 12 ga.
Yeah, that perplexes me as well...unless the whole thing has turned into a chastisement for America.
the answer is most certainly, yes
I attribute it to supply and demand Corona, then a summer of rioting and violence, and the threat, now seemingly made real, of a gun-grabber in the Whitehouse next year. People have been buying like crazy all year with these issues snowballing and the suppliers just cant keep up. Now I dont suppose it will ever go back to normal.
Well, I certainly know now what to request for Christmas, my birthday, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, etc.
Assuming, of course, that America still exists then. (Rhetorical statement ... sort of)
What I found unsettling in the course of online shopping that not only is ammo scarce and spendy, but gun parts, tactical gear, cleaning kits, et cetera are all hard to get or up in price. It’s almost like an army is being equipped...
