Ecologist Jeremy Fox at the University of Calgary offers a list of scientific frauds, with Piltdown Man at the top of the list. Writing at his blog Dynamic Ecology, he remarks, Gonna be hard to top this one, I think. Is it? From, Whats the greatest scientific fraud of all time?
After the Piltdown man it would be the Peking Man. All the bones disappeared in WW II, and some, who saw the original bones, said the reproductions look nothing like the real ones.
Greatest scientific frauds?
1. Anthropogenic climate change.
2. High-carb/low-fat food pyramid.
3. Homosexuality is fabulous!
I get the point, but unless I missed it, he does not once say “ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny.” A very poorly written article.
Damn you! Its science! You must trust the science no matter how many times they oie to us!
4. Food cholesterol myth (body makes 1,000 - 1,500 mg a day if it cant get it from food)
5. Sodium myth (death statistics reduced for sodium ingestion of 3,000-6,000 a day)
ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny. what a crock that was, but it was taught to me as evidence for darwinism in bio-anthro back in the 70’s.
as the great scientist Dick Feynman used to say: “Science is the belief in the ignorance of the experts.” to which i would add ‘and also the conviction that many of my colleagues are stone cold liars.’
4a. Saturated fat is bad.
Everyone alive today who is descended from people who learned how to survive winter exists because their ancestors ate saturated fat every chance they got.

I'm not saying that saturated fat is good or bad, but up till about 500 years ago anyone that lived for 50 years was considered to have lived a long life.
My favorite was Nebraska man.
I don’t know but Lucy has got to be right up there with those two frauds.
I mean there’s no shortage of them.
