So, visited foreclosed house yesterday.
Get there, and yep, its a dump. We just had power and water turned on previous Wednesday and had a crew out Sunday to clean up debris from storm that came through the area. Walk in garage door that enters into kitchen. Smell weed. Broker starts down the hallway and a small dog barks. "Get out".
There's someone in the house. Call County Sheriff. They will send deputies out "but they can't do anything". Deputies get there. They can't do anything. 2 cars. 2 deputies. Broker says "well is it ok if I go in?" "Well OK but at your own risk." So my guy grabs a baseball bat out of a trash can that is sitting beside the door and heads down the hallway toward a shut bedroom door where the dogs are. I'm kinda peeking around a wall trying to stay out of shooting lane. Just in case.
He gets to the door and starts banging on the door with baseball bat. "Ok, come on out". Deputies are kinda inching in the door and taking it all in. 2 people come out. Along with 2 chuihuahua's. Deputies now act a little more interested and come on in and start talking to the folks. Get IDs. Question them a little bit and get them outside. Call in their names. From Indiana. We're in central Alabama BTW. And sex offenders. Never did figure out why they couldn't arrest them for that, SORNA violation? But no.
Both in pajama's. One "guy" is, well I'm not sure exactly, a transvestite? Or going though the change, Man to Woman, Woman to man....I couldn't really tell. But to each his own.
Their story was that a Black guy bought the house from a bank and told him they could live there. My buddie says "oh hell no, bank owns the property." So we get on the phone with the banker and he's on his way. While we are waiting the two "guys" bum my last 2 cigarettes. WTH. Banker gets there. Confirms bank owns property. Cops tell them to get out.
They get on the phone. Few minutes later an old beat up truck shows up. Indiana plates. Cops check ID. No DL for either in truck. No insurance. Doesn't matter I don't guess because not ticket. Whatever. Then the Black guy shows up with a Mexican woman. Then another half Mexican chick with 4 kids. Kids look Indian. So I comment and she says "yeah. Huron Tribe." Nice kids. Probably 10-14.
Lets see. I have 2 real estate folks. 2 County deputies. A banker....black guy and his Mexican girlfriend. A half mexican woman with who knows whose 4 Huron Indian kids. BTW the woman just happend to work for a frind of mine at Huddle house. We checked. She was "a good employee when she showed up. Just had a lot of drug and alcohol problems" and 2 transvestite sex offenders in pajamas. It was pretty much a zoo.
Our two guys walk to the truck. Get in, and off they go. Just left. Cop "I guess you just lost you moving help". So our bunch starts moving things to the road. Wasn't a whole lot. They load up in their cars and leave. Bankers jumping up and down. "Why didn't you arrest somebody!!!!" Cop: We'll file a report. I have everyone's names. Except the kids. If they show back up you can have them arrested then" Banker is not happy.
BTW. Black guys story is that yes, he told them they could move in. They just moved in the wrong house! Whatever.
We got out of there at about 3 that evening. That's what I love about my job. You get to meet the most interesting people! Not really. I coulda killed my broker.
I read stuff like this, and I just have to shake my head in embarrassed disbelief. How can people live like this? Is this REALLY what they want out of life?
It’s just unreal.
Kids seemed like really good kids. It’s sad that they probably have no chance. Before I got into real estate I had little idea that people could live like this. I have shown houses that I wouldn’t let my dog live in. Literally.
Sad, but guess what rights you will have under President Kamala. I suspect you would have had to post this from jail.
Nothing like bullying a few poor people into homelessness and bragging about it online. Shame on you.
I really hope that is meant as sarcasm, because that is not how it came across. If you really mean that, you should probably hang out over on DU because on FR, property rights matter.
You might be on the wrong forum. Do you condone squatting and eschew property rights?
Did you forget your sarcasm tag?
“Nothing like bullying a few poor people into homelessness and bragging about it online. Shame on you.”
You might feel differently if you were the home owner.
Just confirms what I figured out a long time ago, that owning and renting any kind of property would be the last thing I’d want to do. Hope it works out ok. Pretty unbelievable what some people will do. And post.
Do they have a physical lease and proof of payment? You may have to go through a full eviction process, dependent on where you live.
People moving into a home that isn’t theirs are STEALING.
If they are victims of a rental scam, moving in after paying a liar money, they are victims but still obligated to move. They are as wrong as people who buy stolen merchandise and have to return it.
The kids. It's like these people view their own children as nothing but a meal ticket at best and a necessary nuisance at worst.
A friend of mine once said that many people who should not have children, have a bunch of them, and many people who should have kids, can't have them.
what?!
Its just unreal."
Addicts are just living for the next fix and will do anything to get it. Claiming Transism at government expense means a constant supply of fixes.

The Deputies couldn’t do anything just on our word. That’s why we had to get the banker there. They had just “moved in” on Monday. I think the law is, if they had been there 30 days then you have to go through full eviction.
I never did figure out who, exactly, was supposed to be living there. I think just the 2 weirdos. There were so many crack head responses to the deputies questions that it was pretty hard to tell. When we got there there were only the 2. Rest of the bunch, I just don’t know.
You know this happens with some regularity?
There have been instances where someone ownes a 2nd home.
Returns to home and there are people living there. Rent free. No lease. Just moved in. And you have no recourse except eviction.
Mean ‘ole homeowners making people homeless.
Heck, it doesn’t even have to be a 2nd home. Leave on vacation and come back to people living in your home and see how you feel.
