Sounds like voter suppression.

This has been this way since the primary. Nothing new. Murphy wants complete absolute control.

I can understand how the Governor might be able to force the use of provisional ballots, corrupt as it may be. But, how can anyone be instructed to leave portions of the ballot blank?

There was less corruption in NJ when the Mafia and the Teamsters ran it.

Should your title of your thread be changed to “No Surprise”?

Nothing our bucktoothed moron governor does surprises me.

We hand-delivered our mail in votes to our county board of elections last week.

Filled out completely.

We live in a conservative corner of NJ. It’s been a Republican stronghold for my whole life. But it’s changing. City dwellers are moving in, and bringing their city habits and city politics with them, with no understanding that their political viewpoints - in action - are what led them to flee the city in the first place.

We’re getting out of this fetid sewer of a state as soon as we can.

Every registered voter in NJ got a ballot in the mail on 10/3. There is no in person voting, unless you are handicapped. All ballots were to be mailed in OR dropped off a the county election boards. I brought mine to the county office. Also provisional ballots will NOT be counted until the very end.

They mailed everyone ballots. The ballots say on the back that you need to take them to the polling place because voting machines are only for special needs folk. The intent was that the polling place was going to be just a drop box for mail in ballots. If you tossed your ballot then when you get to the polling place you have to do a provisional ballot.

I'm feeling like this is a case of people not reading the mail in ballots to figure out what der governor has dictated.

How is this a surprise? It was made known a couple of months ago that the election would be done this way.

Sucks, yes. Rampant opportunity for fraud, absolutely. But not a surprise, unless people just haven't been paying attention.

Actually the vote by mail put a big crimp on the Democrats most effective fraud tactic. In urban areas the Democratic thugs would take over a precinct, close it to the public for a while, sign hundreds of voter logs and then pull levers on the machines for the Democrats. Republicans have noted that often fewer than a hundred voters entered the prescinct all day but when they tallied the votes , the machines recorded over 700 votes for the Democrat. Not sure the fraudster thugs have fully figured out how to rig the new system to that extent. You may be pleasantly suprised when the votes are counted in New Jersey.

You’re attorney friend must have been in a coma for the past few months.

Who didn’t know this already? No voting in person, that’s why the crooks sent out ballots to as many dead as possible.

Don’t let the rest of the country become New Jersey. Vote Republican.

That’s how Murphy set up the rules. No voting machines at polling locations. You can do a paper provisional or drop off the ballot you were mailed.

This has been known for months. Ballots were mailed. You do not need to put them in the mail for the post office to deliver. All you would have had to do is fill out your ballot and either bring it to the polling place or drop it in the municipal drop box which is picked up directly by the county. No Mail!

If you did not do this you will be given a provisional ballot which will not be counted unless votes are needed. It sucks but it is not fraud and should have been known by anyone paying attention.

Oh my. I am taking a 92 year old lady to the polls today (her legs are bad and she doesn’t drive). I’ll have to warn her before she goes in to vote. She apparently threw out her mail in ballot because she wanted to do it in person. Since I’m down here taking care of my mother while she’s on hospice, I figured I could at least take this lady to the senior clubhouse where the voting happens today.

A provisional ballot is the merest shadow of an actual ballot. The law in New Jersey is such that the chances of any given provisional ballot ever being opened or counted is miniscule. It’s the electoral equivalent of patting little Johnny on the head and letting him think he’s part of the big boys’ football team when instead he’s thoroughly outranked by the waterboy’s second assistant.

Here in Ocean County, New Jersey (Toms River). Can confirm that the governor decreed only mail in ballots and on provisional ballots on election day (although you can bring your mail-in ballot to the polling station and they are supposed to accept it. There is also a drop-box arrangement (in my county at least) where there are locations, at county government buildings, with Fed-Ex type boxes, covered by CCTV cameras. I used that to enthustiastically cast our votes (me and the missus) for our great President Trump.
