Political experts believe 2000 election history could repeat itself in 2020

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Election night is just the end of one phase of the 2020 election season and the start of another.

Between the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and intense public interest, many political analysts and experts expect this year to play out very different than most.

“I think we are going to see something exactly like 2000 because if you remember, it came down to one state of Florida, essentially,” attorney Phil LeVota said. “It’s going to be a waiting game. We are not going to know Nov. 3.”

Like many other people, LeVota is shifting his attention to what happens after the election, comparing this year to the chaotic 2000 election between Al Gore and Former President George W. Bush.

The 2000 election became hectic when Florida was too close to call, prompting recounts, lawsuits and a long delay for official presidential ruling.

Some election watchers worry we could be in for another long, disputed election.

2000 was a very close election indeed...

Bush did not win Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota...

But, he did win Nevada, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Virginia...

President Trump did not win Nevada, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Virginia in 2016...

I do not think President is trying to win Colorado, New Hampshire, and Virginia this time...

How things have changed in 20 years...

George W. Bush won without winning Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and Pennsylvania...

President Trump must win some of those states...I am not sure if he could win the election if he wins none of those states...

Members of FreeRepublic worked around the clock, posting information that was the main attraction.

The day of the 2000 election, and the days after, that work became more intense, as more people sought info and advice on what they could do, to keep an eye on the leftists’ corruption that was bent on getting Al Gore into the White House.

In fact, the defense of George W. Bush - in that election - started here at FreeRepublic. Bush himself, had to be kicked in the butt, in order to get him to put up a fight; granted, that after that kick, he did start to get his act together.

But the hub, for where info was being processed, that kept an eye on the various counts and recounts - occurred right here at FreeRepublic.

I’m not buying that. If it comes down to one state, the Dems will go all out to steal it and probably succeed.

And if there is a Florida 2000 scenario, I’m guessing the state in question will be Pennsylvania, not Florida.

Where it may (underline may) be similar is that B. Hiden could win the popular vote but Trump wins the electoral vote. That’s not such a big deal because everybody knows (or should know) that electoral votes are how you elect a president, not the popular vote. It would be like declaring the winner of the World Series as the team that gets the most hits instead of runs. Or the winner of the Super Bowl as the team that compiles the most yards instead of points. Everybody knows the rules going in and plays the game accordingly.

I am wondering something related yet unrelated to this thread.

The media has been wrong about pretty much everything since Trump came down the escalator.

Think about it - name one grim prognosis (pretty much everyone) about Trump that they have been correct about.

Just one.

They told us numerous times his campaign was finished.

They predicted all kinds of calamity across the board.

They told us HRC would be President.

Yet now they tell us Biden will win and we are supposed to believe they are finally correct?

Just a thought.

In fact, you can pretty much bet against every prediction they make against Trump based on their track record.

I guess you haven’t seen the recent polls with Trump now ahead in FL and PA. Biden’s toast, and any attempt to not declare Trump a winner, are done for one purpose, and one purpose only. The Demsheviks intend to steal this election by declaring it deadlocked, and moving the vote for president to the House of Representatives, and the Senate chooses the VP. Say hello to President Pelosi and vice president Chelsea Clinton. AOC becomes the next speaker of the House....etc.
