Something hit me yesterday about the Biden campaign, and today I saw it again - Does Biden Ever Smile? My point about Reagan and the media is that in the 1984 campaign, the media did a hit piece on Reagan, and after it was aired a journalist gloatingly nudged a Reagan guy (Ed Rollins, I think) bragging about the hit they had done on Reagan.
Ed Rollins replied by thanking him for that piece! Rollins explained that people turn on a TV, and they dont listen to the commentary nearly as much as they notice the imagery. And although the piece verbally brutalized the president, the video alone showed Reagan in a positive light.
The media was shocked - and did some research, and realized that Rollins was right!
Im watching Biden speak as I type, with the sound muted to keep my sanity. And nobody would get happy by looking at that surly mug!
If thats any indication, Trump has it in the bag!
Ping.
He only smiles when hes groping or sniffing.
No wait. Thats a leer.
He grins real big when called out on something and is about to deny or lie about it. Every time.
Biden is all doom an gloom. A “Dark Winter” is around the corner!
For Biden and the Democrats it most certainly will be a dark and dour winter after Trump defeats Biden in a rout, the Democrats lose the House and Republicans retain the Senate.
A physiognomist recently said that Biden’s face and comportment told him that the man could not possibly become President.
Oh, he “smiles” enough, though it’s really more of a toothbaring, Cheshire Cat grimace.
That has always been one of his Masks.
I think you both called it. That big leer when he’s on the spot... Kamala does the same thing, only it’s a laugh and a kind of whole-body shudder.
Please God. Hold the Senate in '20, and it should be possible to hold it in 22 and 24 for the simple reason that about half, rather than a third, of Republican senators are up for reelection in 20. Which is why we needed to pick up strength in the Senate in 16 and 18. We sort of did, but not enough to provide a solid cushion. In 24, I expect well nominate Pence for POTUS. VP is a great position from which to run for the nomination. To win the presidency, not so much - because VP is not an executive position. Rather, it is political heir of the president.
But Pence would run not only as a sitting VP but as a former governor of Indiana who attained national office only four years after first attaining statewide office. And only one senator (Harding in 1920) or VP has ever defeated a governor for an open presidency.
Likability is a function of many things. Who would you rather have a beer with? Who relates well to the average working person?
Biden tries to fill that bill but he's always had a phony affinity with the average voter. But around election time he sure out there pretending to be Joe Sixpack.
Biden is the ultimate con artist.
