Kimber Manufacturing is moving its corporate headquarters to Troy and will aggressively hire in all departments.
The firearms manufacturer last week announced it is moving to a new facility it built last year on 80 acres with more than 225,000 square feet of space, with design engineering, product management and manufacturing space.
The company, formerly based in Yonkers, N.Y., pledged two years ago to open a $38 million production facility in Troy, creating 366 jobs over the next five years, which Gov. Kay Ivey announced in her 2018 State of the State address.
In an announcement, the company said Troy was chosen for, among several reasons, its proximity to engineering schools as well as pro-gun, pro-business support from the city of Troy and Alabama.
The company said it is seeking applicants across several categories, including CNC technicians, machinists, quality control specialists, lean technicians, design engineers, compliance analysts, customer service representatives, materials planners, maintenance technicians, finishing operators, and assembly technicians.
Interested applicants may apply here.
Pedi Gega, director of assembly and product finishing, said the campus has two indoor gun ranges, one outdoor range, and a design and prototype fabrication center.
Every Kimber firearm is created with a unique blend of advanced precision technology and authentic human craftsmanship, Gega said.
Good move, Kimber!
Never understood why most gun makers are in blue states.
Yup. Kimber is known for using MIM steel parts, hence the name, Mimber. Still better than a Block.. err Glock.
I havent seen the late night commercials trying to encourage businesses to move to New York lately.
About dang time. I might consider buying one now.
When I was looking at possibly getting a 1911 and comparing different brands, they did seem to be a bit overpriced. I don’t think they’re any better than a standard Colt or Springfield Armory 1911. If I had the $$ I’d probably go for a high dollar Wilson Combat or something, but the higher end Kimbers do look pretty, especially their Lone Star edition.
preach!
