The deaths of these folks will certainly be regrettable. But they are acceptable in order to preserve the delicate habitat of the Nurovian dancing rat (rattus bossa nova).

Funny how PG&E power lines have stood the test of time for decades up until the Brown/Newsom administrations. Up until the Carr fire, how many major fires have ever been started by a fallen power line?

What has changed?

Hey, as good greenies that they are, they should be happy about not being able to escape, and getting the opportunity to do their own part, to reduce overpopulation. :P

May I suggest you go out to the forest and catch your back engine NOW! Even better may I suggest you pick up the complete DVR collection of the Flintstones for training purposes.

There is that but what about the carbon release as their bodies burn in the fire?

There is an easy answer to that obvious question (Climate denier). You simply drag a generator around with you at all times, with a few gallons of gas in an attached container. Problem solved! Heh, heh.. In fact, you could make money by having a larger generator (you see ‘em on construction sites), and drag along a water hauler full of gasoline. You could charge other idiots a lot of money to charge up their evs. See? Win, win!

If all you have is an EV then the government has probably designated you as non-essential.

Actually, it’s not so easy to put a couple gallons of gas in your car if all the gas stations have no power either. Especially true if you’re being chased by a wildfire moving at 30+ mph.

PG&E is an absolute disgrace. I don’t know how much of it is the fault of the California regulators (I can’t imagine that state is easy to operate in), but there’s been news story after news story for years about their blackouts, brownouts, bankruptcies, and bad equipment starting wildfires that kill people and destroy billions of dollars in property. What kind of Mickey Mouse BS company is this anyway?

Seems to me California needs to stop bailing them out and let some competition come into their markets. This sole provider having a total monopoly for 30 million people isn’t working out well for anyone.

Lol. After all this time you still expect politicians to see consequences?

They love the “peeeeple”. Individuals like you and I don’t matter.

That's easy! Just have a gas or diesel generator handy to charge the vehicle, with lots of fuel.

*snicker*

Yeah, but I can keep a couple of 5 gallon cans of gas around. (And do. 4 exactly.) Not so easy to keep buckets of electricity handy.

Those are called batteries. But I still don’t think people should be held hostage to that. This is exactly why monopolies are terrible and why competition and a healthy marketplace are so critical. One provider with no competition can do whatever they want, especially if they’re “too big to fail”. California is literally allowing a company to kill its citizens with negligence and zero actual consequences.

What has changed?

It was a disaster in the making over several decades. The extended drought they had some years killed and weakened millions of trees. This allowed for bark beetle infestations that killed even more trees.

Why worry about what happens in a wildfire? With the kalifornica plan, electricity will be very intermittent all year long. Your EV will be lucky on a normal day to have enough power to get to the store and back. Of course if you live where you need heating or A/C, too bad soo sad for you. And, speaking of stores, what makes you think they will even have food in stock, since anything that requires freezing or cooling will be spoiled?

And, sucks to be you, if you have medical issues that require reliable electricity in kalifornica.

Welcome to the third world.
