There is so much debate over the Coronavirus and how lethal it is as a justification for lockdowns, but this is the wrong question. I suggest that even if the virus was much more lethal and much more contagious that the federal government intervention should definitely have been minimal. A federal government that stayed within its constitutional limits could legitimately do these things during a virus outbreak: 1.Stop the inflow of infected people or people from certain countries at the border 2.Modified the work patterns of federal employees Things it should not have done were: 1.providing an array of stimulus packages that helped to facilitate tyranny at the state level. 2.promote tyranny through propaganda from the CDC and other federal departments.
We need to fight back hard against all inappropriate government measures that have been enacted. If a virus that is as non-lethal as the Coronavirus leads to us losing our rights and wasting our tax money, then imagine what they will do in 3-4 years or so when the next virus comes along. The bar is set so low for these government interventions after Coronavirus that it is foreseeable that we will spend half of the next 20 years under some kind of virus mandate.

Hubby read that there was a large protest against masks in Knoxville this weekend. I guess people need to do more of this so pols will know where we stand on the issue.
They have similar protests in this area (Johnson City) BUT I have no idea how to attend because I ALWAYS find out ‘after the fact’. The local media is real obedient about promoting BLM events well in adavnce, but NEVER a mask protest. Attendance would be much heavier IF organizers could get the word out.

Maybe these groups should take tips from Trump on how to organize and promote rallies... :-)
Our Constitution was written to LIMIT the Federal government.
Same with our State Constitutions.
We need to get back to that idea.
I read an article in The Atlantic that said it will be another 4 years before we can relax restrictions. 4 years...I guess that means if Biden gets elected.

It is evolving to become amusing. There is a phrase that is developing a following of its own.
It is: yes we must protect the vulnerable, but we must not lockdown.
We don’t have much of a definition for the first part of that. It probably means the working-age population returns to work and ignores the virus, and the elderly population is incarcerated against their will indefinitely. If the elderly choose to escape the incarceration, their deaths are their own responsibility.
Of course the statistics get in the way. If you ask people right now what percentage of deaths from the virus are over age 65, most will respond 95 or 97 or 99%. Surprisingly, and it should not be a surprise, the number is 80%. 20% of virus deaths have been younger than 65.
So that means the most vulnerable from the phrase above is defined as those who will die. You don’t really know who they are, but that’s who you have to protect.

Masks caused 700,000 deaths in the Spanish Flu.
No I am not really arguing this, but I am talking about absurd logic that Trump has total control over all deaths.
