Someone should ask him to explain why it wouldn’t happen in a Kamala-Biden administration. He should also be asked, since he claims to love this country, if it was proper (not if they should have the right) to take a knee or sit for the National Anthem.

His response is phony.

It is a waste of money.

It's training. Pilots have to fly a certain number of hours per month to maintain proficiency, and flyovers count.

Shortly after the moment went viral, Aikman released a statement clarifying his conversation with Buck and how he felt about military flyovers in general.

“I love a flyover but It was odd to see one over a mostly empty stadium,” he tweeted out. “But I am an unwavering patriot that loves this country, has always respected our flag, supported the men and women in the armed forces as well as those in uniform who serve & protect and for anyone to suggest otherwise doesn’t know me, my beliefs or what I have stood for my entire life.”

Definitely a lib. Repubs apologize, Dems throw a hissy fit, thinking they’re privileged...

> why does the “woke” NFL deserve the free, taxpayer-funded honor of a flyover?? <

At one time the the military paid the NFL for the right to conduct military ceremonies at NFL games. (Yes, you read that right, The military paid the NFL, and not the other way around.)

Whether or not the practice still continues I don’t know.

It is a waste of money.

Aikman has focused on that part, wrapping himself in the flag at the same time. He has not mentioned the part where he claims cheerfully that the so-called waste will be ended by Biden / Harris.

When someone says they don't care for patriotic flyovers and they are looking forward to democrats ending them, I take all that into account (and not their twitter 'how dare you!' indignation after the fact) and judge them accordingly.

I think one of the reasons why they do it is to the pilots can log their required flight hours. Although I think flying over a high school stadium or town that actually appreciates the military is a much better idea.

Per the link above, it looks like Troy Aikman is a fairly staunch Republican. When I heard his comments, especially the “Kamala-Biden ticket,” I thought he was being sarcastic.

“He’s right. A flyover over an empty stadium? Total waste of money. “

I’m not sure if that’s true. If the fly over was broadcast on TV then it was seen by all those people too. Also anyone that was in the vicinity of the stadium at the time was able to see it. It’s certainly not a waste of anything.

It's training. Pilots have to fly a certain number of hours per month to maintain proficiency, and flyovers count.

It certainly is training, and damn good training at that. They are told to be over a certain spot at EXACTLY the right time. The pilots then have to carefully plan and execute a mission to accomplish that task, which involves days of planning.

It has direct real-world training benefits because often military operations require that ground support air strike missions be flown with pinpoint accuracy and perfect timing. Get the timing or the accuracy wrong by even a little, and American lives can be lost.

The pilots would have gotten their hours in anyway, and the same amount of fuel would have been burned, if they just did a cross country sortie to get the proverbial $100 hamburger. (Or in the case of F-16s, a $100,000 hamburger...)

USAF year these for training. They can do a four ship formation synchronized to achieve time over target over a lake or over a stadium empty or full. The pilots don’t see it, they don’t hear applause they don’t do it for personal gain. It’s a flyover.

Aikman can be rude about the military or not His choice. But he was rude toward our military. I don’t forget these offenses.

“It is a waste of money.

Especially, why does the “woke” NFL deserve the free, taxpayer-funded honor of a flyover?? Free, $billion stadiums paid for by taxpayers isn’t enough?”

If that were all he said, I could agree, especially since the stadium was mostly empty. But he went on to say; “This won't happen under a Harris/Biden presidency, I can tell you that”

So “F” him. I don't give a sh!t about Troy or Joe's or any other POS in the sports worlds opinion. Must are a bunch of muscle-headed dumbasses.
