This is the story of Sgt. Timothy Gramins
Hear him tell his story:
very sad but yes, quite understandable (at least in certain dangerous Democratic Party ruled cities), and hoping it doesn’t weigh him down too much?
I have started carrying 45rds(3 mags)10mm and 14rd for backup mouse gun. A revolver even if 44mag.. you are limited to 6rds before reloading.
Can’t have too much ammo unless you are drowning or on fire.
I often have 93 rounds of 9mm. Seems I like to just go bang!
Lucked out and got 1,000 rounds of 9mm before COVID. Used up a few hundred at the range since then, got about 500 left.
I carry 3 15 round mags plus one in the weapon. Plus 3 more in my patrol bag ready to be placed in my cargo pocket. And a smith and wesson bodyguard .380 with 8.
I reload, so I’ve got what is essentially an unlimited supply for all practical purposes at this point. I buy components every time I find them.
“why one cop carries 145 rounds”
That’s all he had?
3-17 round mags plus 2-21 rounds mags.
With a Glock, if you carry one spare regular mag and a spare extended mag (Glock 18 mag in 9, or one of the Khan Korean mags in .40 or .45), youre up to around a box of ammo in three mags. Easy to do for car carry.

Any combat vet knows that the basic load is not enough ever if resup is not right there. Lotsa vets in the PD ranks. They know in a firefight which seems to be becoming the norm in the inner cities, firing 30-40 rounds is not uncommon, and that’s for one criminal shooting at you, then his buddies coming piling in and backup is still minutes out.
Used to carry basic load and gas mask bag full of extra mags and still felt under loaded.
Meet a guy who went thru150 rounds in defense. He was attacked at night in a lit parking lot at night, by three thugs hiding in shadowed bushes. He only had muzzle flashes to aim at while trying to hide behind a curb.
The gunfight is over the second YOU run out of ammunition.

I remember visiting my uncle who was a detective in Cincinatti and he carried a 38 special with two speed loaders for a total of 18 rounds. I guess things were different in the 60s.
Don't tell anyone, but I have been shopping for a 9mm to replace my beloved 5" 1911 carry pistol. I routinely carry an extra mag with a flashlight, but that brings me to only 17 rounds, (2) eights plus one in the chamber.
'Course I don't chase bad guys for a living, either...
Any time I see a thread like this I'm amazed at how many people try to argue that a revolver is all you need and that's all they carry. I personally carry a Glock 23 with one in the chamber, plus two spare magazines...40 rounds total. Which will bring on the next big arguement...one in the chamber, or empty chamber.
