Rumours have been circulating for years that the American military killed a creature which was three times the size of a normal man.
The beast was supposedly shot dead after taking multiple hits in the Kandahar region when troops were looking for a missing patrol.
This outlandish claim, which has been denied by the US administration, has recently resurfaced on social media.
It was first featured in a YouTube documentary produced by filmmaker and blogger L.A. Marzulli that was released two years ago.
Two self-proclaimed ex-special ops soldiers recalled the encounter with a a supposed mythical monster.
They alleged that the giant killing was a common knowledge among fellow troops, but no-one could speak publicly...

Take a deep breath or two, and try to relax. Everything doesn’t have to be politics 24-7.
In the Army we liked to have newbies check the armor for soft spots.

My favorite giant story:

As you increase all dimensions of a solid equally, the surface and cross-sectional areas increase as the square of the dimensional increase, and the volume increases as the cube. Thus a 12-foot-tall human’s weight would be 8 times that of a 6-foot human having the same proportions.
The normal, we cant let this get out, the public will panic! BS.
But humanoids aren’t square, they’re more cylindrical. :-)
Actually from the 1960s, yes a very good read.
Any relation to Joe Miller?
Holds for any shape.
1100 pounds? Stank to high heaven? OMG, they killed Michael Moore!
This is going to be an interesting thread.
Discrediting the existence of giants is one way to dilute the authority of The Word.
Cool... ask her if she ever got into the Korengal. If she did, ask if she thinks a 12’, redheaded cave dude could live up there undetected...
You bring up an interesting point.
The American Indians had tales of ginger giants.
Indeed. IIRC the book is totally from a secular perspective.
yes
A book from the 1970s, “Abominable Snowmen- Legend Come to Life” by Ivan T. Sanderson
I read his books back in the 1960s.
Another book I read fifty six years ago was of a Russian who said something snide about Stalin was put in a Russian prison during WW II. He and several others escaped and made their way south through the Himalayas where they claimed they saw a family of ape men.
Seems that way, as Biblical stories of Nephilim and the like were told under the myth, legend and folklore category.
I didn't wish to push the point beyond that. But since you brung it up, yup, 8 times volume and weight is correct, given body ratios remaining the same and height doubled.
To casual observers, without your knowledge, the previous commenters described such as only twice as big (i.e., twice the height), whereas you describe it as eight times larger, not due to observation, but due to the fact that you know the math behind the increase in size.
Consider a 5 year old child (about 3' tall) standing next to their parent (6' tall). Does the parent appear 8 times bigger? Obviously not, to the casual observer. Most would probably say three to four times bigger.
Wildings?
