I like your attitude VK. President Trump will win in November because he said he would :- )

Every strategy of his winning may not be known. The Fake Media are cunning, but not cunning enough.

Yes, you’ve pointed before to Professor S. asserting that journalism has always had a propaganda intent.

He asserts that the parties - initially only the Democrat party - and not the reader fund the production and distribution of newspapers. Actually, when I was a paper boy I got 1/3 of the price of any paper I delivered and collected payment for. And it was my understanding that I was only the tip of the distribution cost iceberg, and that the rest of the cost of distribution of newspapers pretty much ate up the “customer’s” purchase of the paper. I thought the rest of the money came from advertisements.

LS is asserting that there was a shortfall from the cost of running a newspaper apart from distribution and the advertising revenue newspapers received. And that this “shortfall” was covered by one or the other political party buying sub rosa advertising masquerading as editorials and the editorial content of the paper.

You can claim objectivity until the cows come home - but the dog that doesn’t bark in the editorial content of your paper can reverberate loudly through your content.

As you know I believe that if there once were Republican-sponsored newspapers, that isn’t any longer true - and I believe that the wire services in general and the AP in particular powerfully homogenize the political slant of the editorial content of all American newspapers. Again, through the mechanism of dogs which theoretically should bark being mute.

The reason that the wire services should be expected to homogenize journalism is simply stated by Adam Smith:

People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. - Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations (1776)
. . . and the wire services constitute virtual meetings of all major journalism, precisely about business and nothing to do with “merriment” or "diversion.” “Meetings,” indeed, of very long standing and with no end in view.
Off topic, for the past year or so I have not been half the FReeper I used to be. This is because my wife was diagnosed with cancer a little over a year ago and, to my grief, has passed away. This not only hurt my morale but, considering all the things which still must be done but which in the prior 5 decades she assiduously and competently did, distinctly reduced my spare time.

As an aside, me and my wife are sharing our 44th today. She has been in bed and coughing a lot the last 3 weeks. No doctor yet though. We walk the dogs and she occasionally exercises on the equipment downstairs. We are trying to get through this without docs. That’s what she wants. I try to pick up the slack, but cannot do 1/4 of what she gets done. We still have a ton of laughs together...other morning...you look good this morning honey, can I sniff your hair?...GTF away from me. I did.

I’m hoping that LS explains a little more about how the big corporations are less reliant on Big Media adverstising.

We’re on verge of the Stock Market reaching a new high under President Trump.

I think another part of this is that the large corporations are being controlled by the Leftist academics and all the other evil forces trying to take down America, make us second the virtues of our blessed country.

I saw the Trump Card Movie and I recommend it for you.

And D’Sousa’s wife, Debbie, sang a lovely and unusual version of America the Beautiful.

That movie and music will lift you up my friend. We’re all in this together and we WILL prevail.

From the way Trump talked about Hillary today at his rally today, the documents that totally destroy Hillary, Biden and Obama are forthcoming very soon.

We are trying to get through this without docs. That’s what she wants.
Yeah, and six years ago I wanted my wife to get a colonoscopy, too - but not doing that was at the time “what she wants.”

I now repent that I did not pray and fast until she relented in that decision, for had she changed her mind I presumably would still have her companionship, love, and care to this day. As it is, I tend to cry in supermarkets thinking of all her care for optimizing our - my - nutrition. I don’t have that same care today.

My advice to you is to tell her for me that “a stitch in time saves nine” - and that she is slacking off in her care for you if she doesn’t submit to appropriate medical care. Thank you for your prayers. I do appreciate that.

We still have a ton of laughs together.
Cherish that. My daughter took a picture of the two of us laughing at something - and it was a dynamic picture, a video snippet. I could scarce bear to look at it, the first time I saw it. Please God, you both will live long and prosper.

Thanks. ‘compassion. Years ago my wife was sitting bedside with her friend Lynne in Lynne’s house. She had cancer. She was sleeping. She woke up and started crying. My wife said, “I’m here...why are you crying, Lynne?” Lynne said she was dreaming that she was a little girl playing with her friends. R.I.P. Lynne Broussard.

About 5 or so years ago my wife and I were sitting in the assisted living room of her dying mother. She passed while my wife was singing “You are my sunshine” to her.

President Trump will win in November because he said he would :- )
A thought came to me last night. Recall almost four years ago when the Democrats hectored President Trump into taking a mental function test? After which he proclaimed himself “a stable genius?”

President Trump could secretly take that test again, to assure that he as good now as he was four years ago - and then he should take that test publicly, during one of his campaign events. Maybe not a whole battery of tests, but something like what I call the “ball, flag, tree” test.

My mother died of Alzheimers Disease, and suffered from dementia (meaning severe memory loss) before that. I took her to the best specialist I could contact, and she administered a memory test in the following way:
  1. tell the patient that it is important that s/he remember the following three items:
    • ball
    • flag
    • tree

  2. direct the patient to do something which requires mental concentration - one example would be to count down from, say, 99, by sevens.
  3. ask the patient to repeat the three nouns (e.g., “ball, flag, tree.”
My mother absolutely flunked that test, couldn’t repeat even one of those nouns.
Since then I have had that test administered to me a couple of times, and I found that it is not as easy to pass that test as it sounds. Tho I was able to ace it the second occasion, having only gotten 2 of 3 three nouns the first occasion.
I would love to see the president publicly take that test on national TV - and then double-dog dare Joe Biden to do the same. That would be leadership.

And I guarantee you that Biden’s handlers would not dare let Biden accept the challenge.
That would make a killer commercial.

Not every 77-yo has lost it, but Joe sure seems like he has.

What a vile, evil creature Harris is.

Thanks for the ping.

Love it.

I have no doubt Trump would do it, because he seems to be completely and totally unafraid of putting himself out like that.

Hell, I would be too nervous to do it.

But I could see someone approaching Trump to explain it, and Trump, his eyes somewhat narrowed, chin slightly raised, says without a beat: “Sure. I’ll do it.”

Now, he might go out there and get two out of three or even fail, but he wouldn’t dwell on it for a single second.

He would just move on to the next thing.

And that is what so many of us admire and hungered for in a President, never mind a politician: someone who was completely and totally unafraid to open his mouth and be wrong.

Personally, I love that. Just love it.

I am so sick and damned tired of politicians who have the constitution of a scared rabbit, poking their heads up, sticking their fingers in the air, consulting to make sure they don’t use the horrible wrong phrase such as “sexual preference” after which, they must abjectly apologize.

Especially, and only if, they are Republicans.

Maybe I am wrong in assuming others feel that way, but I have the strong impression that so many people feel as I do, that they WANT someone who doesn’t give a hoot about what the media and the rest of the Left says about him. Someone who seems not to care if he trips walking onto a stage. Someone who, when subjected to slanderous ad hominem attacks, simply pulls his guns out and fires back matching shot for shot, seeming not to care who he hits, even if it is his own foot.

It was famously said of Reagan that he was comfortable in his own skin. I feel that is a characteristic Trump has in common with him, and it is a trait I admire greatly.

God Bless that man.

He can be blunt. He can be rude. He can shoot first and ask questions later. He can exaggerate and inflate. But there is something at his core that feels fundamentally true and genuine about him.

I think that stems from his history of intent to do something, and then...he does it. Build the wall. Pull out of the Paris Accords. Move the American Embassy to Jerusalem. Impose tariffs on unfair trade partners.

And that is why, when we hear Trump say the things he does, instead of being horrified, we rejoice. Even when he makes mistakes.
