The buildings in HK are prefabbed, concrete high-rises that are designed for window units. Even expensive flats have either window units, inserted through a wall or a split unit in every room. The concrete wall and roof are pretty good at controlling the temperature, especially if it isn’t the top floor flat. Most people also have dehumidifiers in their home there so the storage conditions would not be as bad you might think. The real issue is fluorescent lighting which causes inks to fade.
“Any record of Mao that is removed from the world is a net gain in my mind.”
For me, the cancel culture BS shows that attempting to erase history is a bad idea.
Just put it out warts and all.
Orwell saw the same.
Other articles are calling it THREE HUNDRED MILLION US DOLLARS.
I know. I was being a little sarcastic.
A baseball with the 28 Yankees signatures is worth about $150k. I cannot for the life of me figure out why Mao’s writings are worth more. Ha Ha.
It sounds like they could just tape it back together, right?
Yes, and there must be a few youtube videos showing how to make a quick repair.
I think the makers of Tarnex make a product just for this problem.
The real issue is fluorescent lighting which causes inks to fade.
And the door locks?
"In 2014, a watercolour of a registry office in Munich sold for 130,000 ($148,000) at an auction in Nuremberg, southern Germany. The picture came with a bill of sale and a signed letter by Nazi military commander Albert Bormann.
Others have been auctioned for lower amounts. Mullock's of Shropshire sold a collection of 13 artworks in 2009 for 130,000. All were signed: A. Hitler."
The thing about Hitler's paintings is that they're just not very interesting. Watercolor landscapes like a million others. There's a reason he didn't get accepted to the Vienna art school.
Not an expert. Did some minor research. Seems the chicoms made changes in the 1950s and the Taiwanese in this century.

“If you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao,
You ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow”
Having spent some months in Taiwan, when The Generalissimo was president, crime was seldom in the news.
I was told that walking the streets of Taipei late at night was very safe. Because one of three people you saw was the police or connected to the police.
A friend arriving late for a flight home forgot his $$$ camera and lenses in the cab and ran into the airport.
He said, “I hope the driver uses it and enjoys it”.
A month or two later it arrived at his home, he sent a very generous reward.
Anita Dunn will be sad.
Read in Reader’s Digest it spelled as Mousey Tongue...by a secretary.
“...a lady in Spain that does it for free...”
One of THE “fails” of all-time... just awful... :^)
I’m kind of respectful for the Hong Kongers - even though it was worth millions (US), they still tore it up. Shows what they think of Mao.
Anita Dunn will be sad.???
I know who she is...
Can you provide a clue?
You say you want a revolution?
Anita Dunn was 0bowmao’s communications person who gave a speech extolling the virtues of her hero, Mao Zedong.
Thanx
"Not if you eliminate the third, fifth, and sixth letters, then it's Red's Digest, Comrade."
The thing about Hitler's paintings is that they're just not very interesting. Watercolor landscapes like a million others. There's a reason he didn't get accepted to the Vienna art school.Exactly. But I would not expect some calligraphy by Mao to be so much more interesting…
