Challenger pulls into double-digit lead over Trump West Long Branch, NJ – Joe Biden holds a 12-point lead over Donald Trump among all registered voters in Pennsylvania and anywhere from an 8-point to 11-point lead among likely voters, according to the Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll. This marks an improvement from Biden’s single-digit lead in a Monmouth poll just over one month ago. More voters trust the challenger than the incumbent on key issues, such as handling the pandemic. The poll does not find much shift in opinion since the president’s own Covid-19 diagnosis. Other findings show a Democratic advantage in a trio of statewide office races and a tight margin in the generic party preference for Congress.

I am firmly in the “close race” camp. There is either BS in the polls or they are failing to capture a major part of the population. What gives me hope is the turnaround in the economy and COVID coming under control. Trump needs to get negative. More videos of Joe fondling little girls. More on Joe’s connection to China. And make the second amendment argument. That resonates with many Democrats.
Signs are pretty meaningless. The parties send out hordes of volunteers who put them out like pink flamingos. They might be good for name recognition in a Senate battle, but for POTUS I just think they are a waste of paper and money.
Ultimately, It is always about GOTV. Historically, under 60% of registered voters actually vote. With enough ground game calling up registered voters, driving them to the polls, etc, that can make or brake a campaign.
Think back to Romney’s (I know it pains me to bring up that albatross of a candidate) campaign. His campaign decided to use an automated computer system, code named “Orca” to GOTV. Orca died on the beach. It was a complete debacle of a deployment.

The Billy Bush/Access Hollywood tape broke on Oct. 7, which was 32 days before the 2016 election, between the 1st and 2nd debates. Trump’s COVID diagnosis broke at the exact same spot in this year’s election cycle. Better to happen when it did than 2 or 3 weeks later. This too shall pass.

Pure propaganda BS is what these polls are. Biden campaign is in panic. They are outraised $$ and are losing big time as I have tapped into a source (Internal/Indy) pollster who shows things slipping badly away from Biden. He has lost leads and is going down to double digit deficits in places. He is dead in Ohio, Arizona and Iowa as I heard last night. Trump also has coat tails. This is an all out media assault kamikaze style.
Only a few thousands votes in a handful of counties going the other way and we would all be talking about President Hillary.
They are assuming 2012 black numbers for Biden.

These polls are designed to scare the Trump campaign into shifting “center“ and risk losing their conservative base. The President is not falling for it, so he will win.

How do we know that this poll wasn't correct on 4 Oct 2016. Of course, we cannot know, this was a month away from Election Day and most data suggest that Trump made up considerable ground in October. Additionally, we now know that in 2016 a significant number of people lied to the pollsters.
I suspect this will be repeating in 2020. You make a good point, however. Watching an attaching any value to polls is probably a mistake.
That would shock me. If the black turnout is strong, Trump will take a high share than any R in history.
I have PT up in GA,NC and FL. Tied in PA. Slightly behind in MI and WI and AZ. Not a bad place at all to be 28 days(an eternity)
