New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton has tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed on the reserve/COVID list on Saturday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported.
Newton has been ruled out for the team's Week 4 game vs. the Chiefs, which has been postponed by the league until either Monday or Tuesday.
Rapoport adds that this is an isolated case in New England, as of right now. Patriots players were alerted this morning to come in and get a POC test because a player had tested positive. The immediate results show no more positives, according to Rapoport, but results can often taken days to manifest.
Clearly we need to shut the country down, and destroy the economy and our children’s futures.
I don’t think the NFL is going to make it this year, I expect the season to be shut down in a few weeks.
The whole Jets team should hang around him just so they can avoid playing for at least a few weeks.
theres a high chance the NFL season crashes and burns in the next month.
The crazy thing is that my over-the-top sports fans in my home don’t miss it.
Ignoring the first game was tough, but like all withdrawals, they wonder now why they ever bothered. I do catch my SO checking scores but without the preoccupation he once studied them.
See, all things work for good.
So this will be postponed to Monday or Tuesday and then ‘cancelled’ like the Steelers game? Make up your mind Roger... The vast majority of players missing in games is due to bodily injury... A couple of dozen players every week see their seasons end due to injury... The least of their worries is corona.
If baseball can pull it off football can. The one game a week schedule gives them a lot more wiggle room. Also bye weeks. Plus the media week before the super bowl let’s them push a week. There’s a lot of ways to get things rescheduled.
“Theres a high chance the NFL season crashes and burns in the next month.”
That would be just wrong, as Black Lives Matter.
lol
That game’s not canceled. Pushed to week 7. The issue is more positive tests. They want a clean week before a game. Injuries don’t make gramma sick. In the end that’s what they’re worried about. That’s some bad press there.
That’s roughly where I am in regard to all sports these days. I check the scores and say hmmm.
I think eventually players will just refuse to play.
Probably not. Most players aren’t that worried. The young and the healthy have that immortality complex. Heck if they didn’t they wouldn’t play football.
He didn’t take COVID-19 seriously. Oh wait. Wrong narrative.
Are we noticing how many public figures are getting the corona virus? Have we heard of any of them becoming seriously ill?
Is that what they were doing? Playing?
Dude ...
You on it?
Yeah at what point does playing turn into another word when it looks like you didn’t even really show up to play?
If they weren’t all millionaires I would say they were throwing the games :)
