Understand this.
Sullenberger did nothing more than what he was trained and supposed to do.
Ditching procedures and training is part of becoming certified in operating any aircraft. Almost any other airplane pilot when faced with such circumstances and no other options would do the same.
Sullenberger had ideal conditions for this emergency landing. Glassy smooth water, rescue assets in the immediate vicinity, daylight, and constant communications.
There are many other ditching incidents where the aircraft was in the open ocean in rolling seas in night conditions. Those pilots demonstrated true airmanship in nearly impossible circumstances.

That captain, who recently died, a natural death, did not milk his heroics like Sullenberger has.

Heroes were everywhere that day in Soux Falls. Mutual aide from all hospitals and emergency crews, and fire fighter assets and more. That event was used as a model for mutual aide efforts. It served well on the skywalk collapse in Kansas City.
