Yeah, I am on an iPad and it’s kind of a pain lol.
I also post to the COVID thread so some folks on FR may not trust me, so if that’s the case I understand. I personally believe the threat of the China virus is real (bioweapon) so I post news items to that thread, but I will say unequivocally that I do not believe in mask mandates, sweeping lockdowns or mandated vaccines by the government and anyone who knows my posting history knows that is true.
Given that, this is not about COVID and at the moment this is more important than any other news out there, IMO. So I just wanted to put that caveat out there :-)
Has anyone volunteered to do a thread? If no one has, I can. Let me know!

Weekly jobless numbers fall to their lowest level since March
Unemployment claims hit their lowest number since the beginning of the pandemic

The Labor Department reported Thursday that the number of weekly U.S. jobless claims dropped last week to 787,000 – the lowest weekly number since the start of the pandemic in mid March.
The weekly number also was 100,000 less than economists expected.
The figure is also less than last week’s, in the mid-800,000’s.
In addition, continuing unemployment also declined last week, dropping by more than 1 million, to a total of 8.37 million.
The declines are in part the result of out-of-work Americans moving from regular unemployment benefits to the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance emergency compensation program. The program offers workers an additional 13 weeks of compensation, following the exhaustion of their initial 26 weeks of regular unemployment.
