A New Jersey man’s body was pulled from 1,565 feet underwater after he drowned in Lake Tahoe, Nevada — the deepest known recovery in US history, authorities said.

The remains of 29-year-old Ryan Normoyle were recovered Monday from the lake, which is the second-deepest in the nation, according to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

Police said Normoyle drowned last month after he recorded himself jumping off his rented boat then was unable to swim fast enough to catch up with the vessel, which he left in gear.

“This depth is past the current record dive.”

So this guy, Normoyle, technically broke the world dive record.

I recall the same about Cousteau - he saw many bodies, they go down, and at a certain depth depending on their weight they are static do not decompose just stay there floating nothing is there to decompose them.

What he saw were bodies from mob killings dumped with concrete shoes from the 50’s into the lake.

Fredo.

If this guy was in the middle of Tahoe, there’s no way to swim back to shore before the hypothermia gets him.

Douglass College of Rutgers University is named after a woman by the name of Mabel Smith Douglass who had been the dean of the same college that would be named after her.

Douglass disappeared while rowing up in Lake Placid in September 1933 at 56 years of age; her body was discovered in 105 feet of water some thirty years later, completely intact and with a line wrapped around her that was attached to an anchor. (The coroner didn't rule the death a suicide, citing a chance that it could have been a accidental.)

The body had been so well preserved that the divers thought they had come across a store mannequin.

True, and the depth of the water where his body was recovered indicates that he was way out there.
