Went to a nice burger restaurant and the manager said revenue is running better than last year.

Went to a nice sitdown burger place at about 3:00 PM and it was about a quarter full.

It was expected since it was mid-afternoon. The waitress was very nice and she was busy especially with a table of six 50ish year old men playing some type of game and ordering beers, and she took our order.

Food was delivered by who I think was the manager and we got into conversation about how the pandemic effected the restaurant and he said, revenue is running above 2019, especially because of their patio.

It was a rainy day and the patio was closed and also this is a smoke friendly place.

Garnering business driven to them by heavy-handed bureaucrat tyrants closing down their competition.

Tyranny has it’s fans in the business community.

The owner of a local joint said the same thing. Last year they had 15 people on payroll. Now they have 5. The owner works more now than before but the place is open less hours than before and their take-out biz is double+ what it was last year.

Yes, but Crappy Burger across the street is out of business.

During our shut down people seemed to be making a point of ordering for pick up, according to a little eatery we enjoy. As far as I can tell, every restaurant in town survived. This is in a little town about 25 miles from Boise, ID.

“Last year they had 15 people on payroll. Now they have 5. “

I suspect this is a lot of what is behind this anecdote. I am not doomsaying anything or saying biz is booming. They’ve smashed their payroll and they’re making more money and that is an adaptation I applaud. Also, no doubt some number of eateries in that class (burger joint) have NOT been able to so adapt, so he’s sucked up some of that biz.

Whether or not their revenue, specifically meaning gross sales, aka the no. of burgers they sell is higher than last year; this I would question. But more power to the guy if he’s doing better than 2019.

I’m glad for them.
I know three restaurant owners that are planning on closing by the end of the year.

The one I linked is the last. The Biff company died long ago.

I’m guessing it wasn’t Fuddrucker’s then.

On the other hand, I hope Kincaid’s is doing okay. They were open the last time I went there at least.

Neighbor moved his pizza joint to new location last year. Permit delays cost him three months of operation since he had closed old operation (lease).

Within a few months his 25 space parking lot was filled and employees were parking on roadside.

Went by there last month. Only employee cars in lot.

“Nice” burger place doesn’t compute. A burger is just a burger.

A burger is just a burger.

Ever compared a Five Guys or a Red Robin to a McDonald's?

Both 5 guys and Red Robin are over-rated and half assed in my opinion, they’re a ripoff. Mc’Ds is just plain inedible junk.
