Thanks for posting this.
Contrast with...
Eric Stumpy Joe Childs (19661967) Choked on vomit of unknown origin,
perhaps but not necessarily his own, because you cant really dust for vomit.
my favorite band of all time, which came to a crashing end on my 17th birthday with the death of Bonzo...
Was gonna see them in concert...they were going to have 4 shows in Chicago.
Went to buy the paper where they had the order forms for tickets then heard he died.
Still have the paper...tickets were 10 dollars apiece.
There are youtube vids where his drumming is isolated. It’s nice just hearing him play drums.
That was my 24th birthday the day he passed. Somehow I’m still here, missing the big lug.
Never tire of Led Zeppelin and that beat - thank you John. Only the good die young.
Gods of the garbage society.
Damn time fly’s by, it was just two years earlier Keith Moon died, arguably the two best Rock Drummers ever.
If I recall Zeppelin was one of the first where they took great performers from other bands and put them together. Led Zeppelin 3 i got my brother for Christmas in the early 70s I have a casset tape that I played on the road just yesterday (93 Jeep) that still sounds great.
There’s never been another like Bonham, and there never will be again. He was a giant.
They didn’t just break the mold when they made him; the mold exploded.
When I was a yute I happened to be near Tower records in Hollywood one summer day (1972?). I looked a lot like Bonham, so much so I had two girls begging me for an autograph. I told them they were mistaken. They refused to believe me so I signed for them. True story Maynard.
Rock and Roll is the greatest opening beats of all time.
An example of playing a stupid drinking game and winning a stupid prize-but still a damned shame-great drummer...
I have the Mothership CD in my truck-love to crank it up and jam on the way to/from work and errands...
Saw Led Zeppelin live in the early 70’s, from right down in front - great show and it was loud.
Not really a roll model for our youth.
So glad to have seen the band live at the Long Beach auditorium.
With Jethro Tull as the warm up act, believe it or not.
RIP Bonzo....Love ya....
I think I will crank Four Sticks later tonight to honor Bonzo’s legacy. The Achilles Last stand. Then Kashmir. Then Trampled Underfoot.
