Flubros and Flubras! Day 181 (a place for Flubros and Flubras)

It’s just the flu, bro.

https://texasscorecard.com/state/texas-gop-urges-abbott-to-open-texas-now/

See link above- The governing body of the state GOP has publicly rebuked Abbott for his slow approach to removing the Coronavirus restrictions. He is probably trying some political middle road to ensure reelection. I am not sure who, if anyone, can successfully pressure him to speed things up.

-

I have made the prediction by around October 2 or 3 that virus deaths will be plummeting in the USA. We will have a few governors say it is over but the rest of the GOP governors will wait for Trump to say it is over. That day must come. I hope Trump is sick of getting bad info from his advisors and he pushes all of them to the side to declare the epidemic is over.

-

I think a case could be made now that Coronavirus is way less than the flu, bro. Through some combination of better treatment and mutations in the virus itself, we have a situation where very few people die from Coronavirus. It makes sense - if a virus kills its host it is less able to spread to others. So mutations should lead to a less dangerous virus.

OANN had a segment on this morning about how over in Africa, since they take so much of the malaria drug, they have very few cases and practice NO SOCIAL DISTANCING... the medical “experts” say that is it curious.....or maybe just a cawinkie dink....

Your numbers are off again. Yesterday it was 941. The day before 385. US mortality rate down to 2.9%. That’s right; under 3% now.

It’s pretty tough to lower the mortality rate (even with pumped up numbers thanks to incompetence, fraud, greed, politics and co-morbidities) with the cases at a fraction of what they were months ago.

It’s over.

So 13,000 people have died FROM Covid. 13,000 out of 325 million. Hmmm. We shut down the economy for .004. Double hmmm.

Good morning and thanks for posting that (great news!) link! I like the wording of that resolution and hope Abbott takes heed that we’re all sick and damn tired of the top-down restrictions.

For Tomorrow’s thread I hope to show how a benign virus that causes itchy toes can kill one million people in the USA in one year. I will use math and logic - should be great.

Is it important if a person has diabetes or hypertension or is obese? They do still matter, correct?

Just curious about the focus on comorbidities as it relates to the number of people who die.

So, a scandal is brewing where I live. Basically, doctors and health insurance companies that are under the capitation scheme are making a killing this year because of underutilization of services (and lowered costs) during the corona shutdowns. The Secretary of Health, who manages the government response in Puerto Rico, might be in on it, by dragging this out and getting kickbacks for it. If not kickbacks, at least wined and dined, as he has been seen living it up with insurance company execs.

I don’t know much insurance, but given the level of corruption here and other democrat strongholds, I think it is plausible.

Sure, those at high risk should change the behavior as to mitigate the risks. Those with no comobiditoes should do nothing or expected to do anything unless they know for sure they are visiting or going to be around a high risk person. It is only common sense.

I think that’s happening everywhere.

I’m assuming you live in PR. I love the place, but the big problem is that a lot of Puerto Ricans have lived in or even grown up in NYC and therefore have learned the fine points of fraud and manipulation of government funding, in addition to the glories of personal corruption. And they also brought the wonderful municipal and state employees unions, such as the SEIU, which makes sure nobody decent could ever get elected there and nothing will change.

Such a pity. I hope the things Trump is trying to do for PR (bring back the pharmaceuticals industry, for example) pay off and get what could be our national “island paradise” on track.

Except for my time in the Army I’ve lived here all my life. I won’t deny what you’re saying. God knows I’ve tried to make this a better place in my own little ways. Now I work in the tourism industry, which gives me a chance to showcase our best. I work hard at that and want to keep fighting. But my wife basically separated from me, spending most of the year in Florida with the rest of our family. I keep trying, but the last three years have been too much. She keeps saying that I am fighting windmills. Most of my friends are in the states already. They say the same thing.

I don’t want to leave my home. Right now it seems pointless if not hopeless, like you say.

And then I see so many mainlanders moving here, and they love it. Probably because they ignore or are clueless about our politics. Why can’t I do that also? I guess it is the thrill of the new thing and maybe I am just getting old and tired. And this is turning into another Hawaii in the worst possible ways.

You have a keen eye for our island. I appreciate your comments throughout the time I’ve been here on FR. It’s refreshing that people on the outside care about us. Many people here are learning to appreciate Trump’s leadership. I hope it sticks.

Thanks,

Yes, PR. When I learn of something more concrete, I’ll let you know.
