A team of scientists has produced evidence that the pandemic virus is ‘uniquely adapted to infect humans’, raising fresh questions over whether its origins were natural or could have occurred in a laboratory.
Professor Nikolai Petrovsky, a top vaccine researcher who headed the Australian team, said the virus was ‘not typical of a normal zoonotic [animal to human] infection’ since it appeared with the ‘exceptional’ ability to enter human bodies from day one.
He said the virus should have emerged from an animal through ‘a freak event of nature’ but the possibility that it had leaked from a laboratory could not be ruled out.
Petrovsky, professor of medicine at Flinders University in Adelaide, runs a biotech research unit that will start human trials for a Covid-19 vaccine next month.
‘I haven’t seen a zoonotic virus that has behaved in this way before,’ he said.
He told The Mail on Sunday that new viruses crossing over from animals normally strengthen as they adapt to human hosts, but for unexplained reasons, this new coronavirus seems perfectly adapted to infect humans without the need to evolve.
He pointed to the ‘coincidence’ that the most closely related known viruses were being studied in a laboratory in Wuhan, the Chinese city where the pandemic erupted, and insisted that the possibility of a leak, however remote, should not be ignored in the search for its origin.
‘The implications may not be good for scientists or global politics, but just because the answers might cause problems, we can’t run away from them,’ he added. ‘There is currently no evidence of a leak but enough circumstantial data to concern us. It remains a possibility until it is ruled out.’

Prof Petrovsky has gone further than any other expert in raising the idea that the virus escaped from one of two laboratories researching bat viruses in Wuhan.
Richard Ebright, one of the world’s top biosecurity experts, also told this newspaper that the odds of this new virus containing such unusual features and occurring naturally were ‘possible – but improbable’.
The primary questions left are was the release intentional or accidental and was it genetically engineered or was a mutation selected, isolated and rapidly reproduced.

The spike protein was specifically modified to bind to human ACE receptors. Why is it so hard for these scientists to acknowledge that possibility ? Are they bought off by the CCP ?
The French virologist who discovered the AIDS virus and who sequenced it, if I recall correctly, took one good look at the corona virus and said in so many words, “this thing is man made.”

(CNN) — Assistant FBI Director James Kallstrom, who came to national attention during the criminal investigation of the crash of TWA Flight 800, said he will retire at the end of the month.
“It was not in my character to leave before the TWA Flight 800 investigation was concluded,” Kallstrom, 54, said Tuesday. “I thought I owed it not only to the bureau but to the victims’ families and to the American citizens.”
A 27-year veteran of the FBI, Kallstrom is leaving to take a job as senior executive vice president for MBNA Inc., an international bank and credit card company based in Wilmington, Delaware.
Kallstrom’s take-charge manner and flat Boston accent became a regular feature in the television coverage of the TWA disaster. But even before that, he was well known in law enforcement circles for pushing the FBI to use new technology to fight crime.
Kallstrom was one of the first in law enforcement to understand the Internet and sound a warning about its potential for criminal misuse.
He has also been an ardent supporter of the controversial digital telephony act, which authorized law enforcement to work with the communications industry to update the old phone tapping systems for cellular phone systems.
He has been credited with providing technology for the Ravenite social club surveillance — microphones that provided the evidence that sent Gambino crime family boss John Gotti to jail for life.
FBI Director Louis Freeh said he understood why Kallstrom, who joined the FBI in the 1970s, wants to leave.
“I understand that he was a dedicated and loyal FBI agent who has sacrificed a lot. I also think TWA took its toll on him both emotionally and physically,” Freeh said.
Last month, Kallstrom suspended the FBI’s search for a criminal cause into the July 17, 1996, disaster that claimed 230 lives, saying no evidence of a bomb or missile was found. The National Transportation Safety Board is continuing an investigation into mechanical failure and is currently holding hearings on its findings.

Before election day Trump should make a speech about this subject, harnessing all the best science that questions a “natural” origin for the virus, and how “gain of function” genetic research may have contributed to its origin. Then, as he goes back to his desk after the speech he should fire Fauci and make a public notice about it.
The check from the Chinese must’ve cleared.
