I have seen rats larger than fat tomcats. Some animals never stop growing. As long as they have an ample food supply they get bigger and bigger until they cannot find enough food to meet their growing and growing food requirement.

I remember reading a book by a journalist who was in Paris during the siege (Franco-Prussian War). He described a dinner party where the main course was a large roasted rat surrounded by roasted mice.
