Some years ago I worked the fires as a radio tech in a Northwest USA state. Comment from a senior official: You could solve the forestry problem m parking a trailer full of chainsaws outside all the Home depots. For every guy that came by driving pickup truck: “Here’s your chainsaw - now go up there and CUT! (The do-gooder tree huggers would never have it, though.)

Crater Lake is the only National Park. The rest is National Forest or recreation area. State lands are significant, as well.

500,000 are under Evacuation possibilities...level 1, 2 or 3...about 40,000 have had to actually evacuate (level 3) so far as I understand.
