If you are trying to track this fire daily from a distance, I’d recommend 3 ways:
Cal Fire incident team in conjunction with Forest Service has a daily early eve briefing that can be watched digitally. If you get on the “follow” digital list it will prompt you to tune into live briefings.
The best “layman’s” analysis of this fire with his own 2-3 daily briefings via FB is a guy named Jeff Aiello. Channel 30 out of Fresno even came to his home Wed. to interview him over his fire coverage.
He uses satellite detection websites—one being caltopo.com; flight radar software that tells you which exact planes are in air where (spotter planes of forest service; tankers, etc). He was highlighting yesterday how they brought in from Sac City a super tanker.
They are dropping both retardabt & water on fire.
Btw, all of this software is available to you & me.
Jeff also has some good sources on the ground.
The third way is to monitor a FB group web page focused on this incident: Sierra 911.
They have routine threads including one just on evacs.
FR’s servers are in the San Jose area. They’re fine.
I’d be more worried about JimRob and John.
People can evacuate, hardware cant.
controlled burns
or
uncontrolled burns
take your pick
try inciweb.com
Fires will be completely out on Nov. 4...if Biden wins.
sorry. heres the working link
only irk me. is finding the fire out of many on the initial map but there must be a search function. Once you find it there is great info on each fire updated regularly
I live in Northern California. Today, at 10 in the morning the ambient lighting outside from daylight looked like about a half an hour till Nightfall. It was completely weird.
Thanks! The Sierra911 FB page provided a link to an evac map, and other good info. Could not get anywhere searching for “Jeff Aiello on FB” or any similar search. I found limited stuff from him on Twitter. (I do not have a FB or a Twitter acct.)
That mandatory evac area for the Creek Fire is getting close...
Thanks - will take a look.
I hope that there is backup?
Jim are you and the fam safe??
I note:
Fuels Involved
Large expanses of beetle kill, 80-90 percent of stand. Timber, Brush, Understory Litter
Damned demon-rat ARSONISTS. This is what happens when commies want to take over. The virus is fizzling so they start fires. The smaller fires turn into huge fires and trap all in their wake. People having to guard their properties all night. Its raining ash in Oregon.
Are they even trying yet?
and therein lies the problem. Im glad you did t have an issue finding the right fire.
Another problem judging from the satellite pics of before areas I’ve seen: the number of homeowners who refuse to have at least 30 feet of defensible space around their homes when living in wildfire prone areas.
“167,000 acres”
If a square area it would be about 16 miles on each side
A BLM rally in Portland?
talked to one supervisor of an Arizona team
they just came back from 21 days in California
visibility in Arizona has been reduced because of the CA fires
yesterday the air was especially thick
