If you are trying to track this fire daily from a distance, I’d recommend 3 ways:

Cal Fire incident team in conjunction with Forest Service has a daily early eve briefing that can be watched digitally. If you get on the “follow” digital list it will prompt you to tune into live briefings.

The best “layman’s” analysis of this fire with his own 2-3 daily briefings via FB is a guy named Jeff Aiello. Channel 30 out of Fresno even came to his home Wed. to interview him over his fire coverage.

He uses satellite detection websites—one being caltopo.com; flight radar software that tells you which exact planes are in air where (spotter planes of forest service; tankers, etc). He was highlighting yesterday how they brought in from Sac City a super tanker.

They are dropping both retardabt & water on fire.

Btw, all of this software is available to you & me.

Jeff also has some good sources on the ground.

The third way is to monitor a FB group web page focused on this incident: Sierra 911.

They have routine threads including one just on evacs.

Thanks! The Sierra911 FB page provided a link to an evac map, and other good info. Could not get anywhere searching for “Jeff Aiello on FB” or any similar search. I found limited stuff from him on Twitter. (I do not have a FB or a Twitter acct.)

That mandatory evac area for the Creek Fire is getting close...
