Sharpton, a Democrat, is the latest high-profile leftist to switch sides from calls to “Defund the Police.”
Sharpton’s remarks come after Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden refused to endorse the movement as he scrambles to distance himself from anti-police brutality protests, due to diminishing polls.
Sharpton appeared on MSNBC to comment on New York City’s exploding gun crime under Mayor Bill de Blasio’s watch.
“We’ve always heard about the tale of two cities. On the side of the city that I come from, which is Blacker and poorer, we’ve seen more in terms of gun usage,” Sharpton said.
“I got a lot of attention when I did the eulogy for George Floyd’s funeral, but I also, a month later, preached a 1-year-old kid’s funeral in Brooklyn who was killed by a stray bullet,” Sharpton added.

“Six people were shot over Labor Day weekend at a festivity in Brooklyn,” Sharpton continued.
“So I would say statistically we’re not much higher than where we were, but on the ground, it is certainly feeling more violent, feeling more unsafe in unsafe communities.”

Despite the “defund the police” movement being a core part of the Black Lives Matter’s rallying cry, Sharpton has expressed opposition to dismantling police departments.
Sharpton has also been questioning who is behind the “Defund the Police” movement and whether they are in touch with minority communities; according to The Wall Street Journal.
WSJ reported in August:
“Mr. Sharpton charged that some people are trying to ‘hijack’ a movement intended to improve policing and redirect it toward the dangerous goal of removing police from the streets.”
“On MSNBC he called out ‘those that have no identity with the communities, that don’t live in any of the danger’ but who are trying to ‘put us in harm’s way to fix some purist latte liberalism that they advocate.’”
Meanwhile, an overwhelming amount of black lawmakers are opposed to defunding the New York Police Department, according to The New York Times.
According to Gallup, just 19% of black Americans support abolishing law enforcement.
The Dems woke up and smelled the polls.
This is ironic. Sharpton is a race-hustler and opportunist who always swoops in at the drop of his own hat to declare some incident was “racist” and he lines is own pocket.
However, BLM has stolen his thunder and his plunder.
Sharpton also knows his constituency and is likely sensing that there is not overwhelming condemnation of the police in the inner-cities that are now exploding with gang violence. In other words, Sharpton is indirectly admitting what many of us have recognized from the beginning (Ferguson Effect) - the “cure” is far worse than the problem.

I actually agree with something Sharpton said.
The memo has gone out. “Defund the Police” is polling badly.
And “Rev ‘em up“ Al was speaking to two “latte liberals” when he made the remark.
The solution is simple, just put Black Cops in Black Neighborhoods, White Cops in White Neighborhoods, Asian Cops in Asian Neighborhoods and Hispanic Cops in Hispanic Neighborhoods.
Then do the same for Teachers in Schools and Guards in Prisons.
That way the DEMONcRAT Party can bring back “Separate but Equal” while calling it Racial Equality instead of Jim Crow.
Sharpton is not opposed to shakedowns with threats of violence.
What’s different now is that President Trump is breaking the vicious cycle of extortion in Democrat cities. The Democrats have NO MORE MONEY to rebuild their burned down cities, businesses are leaving for good, the New York well-to-do are moving to the Hamptons.
The Democrats are in a funk. And it’s a glorious triumph of Trump and Republicans sticking to their guns and not giving in.
Make America Great Again is right around the corner. We can absolutely crush the Democrats and it will be glorious.
But I suspect we will still see more blood in the streets till the Democrats and their mobs are utterly crushed.
I don’t know because the police are a major component to his business model. No police to beat up on 35 years where would he be?
